I have appeared regularly on many television programs including, The Today Show & Jimmy KimmelOn my free weekends, I spend time speaking at college campuses across the country such as Princeton, Stanford, John Hopkins, University of Southern California, Georgetown, Kent State, The University of Pennsylvania, Vanderbilt, Northwestern and others.I’m dedicated to helping young people connect with others. I have spoken on Capitol Hill for the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and has participated in the State of Our Youth at the Carter Center with Rosalind Carter.After receiving my undergraduate degree from Amherst College and my M.D. from the University of Southern California, School of Medicine, I continued with USC for my residency. Believe it or not, I love listening to classical music such as Opera and Louie Armstrong. I also enjoy running, weight training, skiing and body surfing.
Interesting fact about me I made my feature film debut in NEW YORK MINUTE (Warner Bros.) with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in 2003.

I am currently the Medical Director for the Department of Chemical Dependency Services at Las Encinas Hospital, a world-renowned psychiatric facility in Pasadena known for treating celebrity patients. I also have my own private practice, which keeps me busy.In August 2003, my book Cracked: Putting Broken Lives Together Again was released and I completed another book, When Painkillers Become Dangerous, in 2004.
