About Me

Jambalaya Brass Band is New York City’s ultimate New Orleans party band. They perform with a s few as 5 pieces or as many as 9 pieces. Kickin’ it hard with a flavor straight from the streets of New Orleans, they pay their respects to the unique musical traditions of New Orleans incorporating a special blend of R & B, Funk, Gospel Traditional Jazz, Zydeco, Latin, Hip Hop and Be-Bop into an infectious sound that will start you dancing and raise your spirits. The band was formed in 1998 by saxophonist / flutist / clarinetist / arranger / composer Ric Frank. As a composer, Ric’s pen encompasses many styles, from the Renaissance—his music for The Twelfth Night as performed by the Family Repertory Company—to numerous jazz, Latin jazz, and children’s songs. In addition to having received two Meet the Composer grants and two ASCAP Plus awards, his arrangement of “Unicamente Tu” is in the permanent collection of The Salsa Museum of New York.Ric has performed with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Ray Santos Caribbean Music Experience, Luis Ramirez, ReBirth Brass Band, Hot 8 Brass Band, Treme Brass Band, Bobby Rodriguez y Nueva Compania, Todd Wolfe, Johnny Allen, Dallas Fisher, Michael Packer, American Renaissance Theatre Chamber Ensemble, Armando Manzanero , the Jazz Samaritans, Henry Fiol and Jerome Callet’s Stratosphere Big Band and sat in with the Dirty Dozen.Current members include Walt Szymanski - trumpet, Curtis Fowlkes - trombone, Ron Caswell - tuba, Chauncey Yearwood -drums, Washington Duke -drums.
