About Me

Welcome to Enotes' MySpace. I can be summed up in three words: Trance, Technology, Passionate.
____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ________________________
I call Indianapolis home. I've been here for a couple of years now, after graduating from Purdue (boiler up). All in all, Indy is a very nice city to live in. It has a great small town feel to it, but then on the other hand, we have the world champion Indianapolis Colts, and the most renowned race track in the entire world, as well as the HQ for Steak 'N Shake - ftw.
At the heart of my humanity, I am a musician and artist. As an artform, music, specifically trance and classical, defines and sometimes creates my thoughts and emotions toward life and eternity. I believe God wired me to enjoy music the way I do for several reasons. Mainly, my attachment to music has seen me through several hard periods in my life, and has also allowed me to express feelings of love and passion toward those I know, and sometimes don't know (as is the case when I DJ). Secondly, but also of high importance, music provides me with a creative outlet, and a way to settle my nerves, whether at the end of the day, or if I'm dealing with a stressor (which there are many, as with all people).
Perhaps the most ironic thing is that my favorite music, trance, has little to no meaning, or worth, to most people I come across. In a movie I saw recently, Copying Beethoven, Ludwig van Beethoven said that while God whispers into some people's ears, he shouts into others, and that's why he became deaf (he was half kidding - I do believe God inspired him to the max). Now, in my case, I believe the way God wired me (not that He shouts into my ears, though He does sometimes), has given me an extremely heightened appreciation for music; in my case, it's trance.
Trance is the only form of music I've found, and I've listned to every genre under the sun, that can touch my heart in such a way that I can be more creative, more emotionally aroused, and better able to reflect on life and God, which to me is the highest purpose of music.
A good trance tune is heaven to my ears, whereas to most, it's a repetitive mash-up of percussion and synthesized weirdness. When most people tell me that's what they hear, I wish I could reach into their soul and change them in a way that they could embrace trance. I wish I could do this because this "mash-up" they hear is in all actuality a mass of raw energy and emotion that I think is so overwhelming, and so unique sounding and uniquely made, that to the normal ear sounds like garbage. In my opinion, to appreciate this artform in its entirety, a person has to be in a defining stage in their life where they are open to new artforms, or they have to be in an amazing environment where they can "experience it" first-hand before they can even dream of understanding the power that this form of music holds. Even then, most people who eventially fall in love with trance start out listening to euro dance tracks or insanely commercial electronic music that just lacks the level of emotion I'm talking about. But, these "gateway" forms of trance music provide a sort of initiation to new ears, and most usually migrate away from this music after they discover the likes of trance and other "real" genres of electronic music. I truly believe this to be the case.
Wow, I didn't mean to spend that long talking about trance, but as you can see, it is a huge part of who I am, and it is the artform that best helps me view the world.
What's left to me? Well, I am a huge supporter of Academia and learning. I wish I could live in Academia, but to me, I can make the biggest difference in corporate America at this stage in my life. I have learned at a ferocious rate since I entered the workforce. I've learned things that they can only scratch the surface on in universities. After I get a stronger hold on skills in the workplace, I plan on getting an advanced degree or two, and then returning to the workforce to be a pioneer in the Healthcare research industry. I am a researcher in the US Healthcare industry, and love it. Working with data and applying my knowledge of study design and statistics is very exciting.
Well, that's me in a rather complete nutshell!
