Which Unknown Quote are You?
Take The Quiz Now!

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

My Interests

where to start.... I'm into all kinds of things!

Mostly I like anything creative, whether it's purely artistic (drawing, painting, pottery, etching, sculpture, photography, you-name-it!) or functional (working on my house, landscaping, writing programs for work or whatever), or a bit of both (bathroom remodeling - yay!)! It's hard not to put some "art" into pretty much everything I touch.. :)

I also like getting out & doing things: racquetball, rock climbing, loong walks, and scuba diving, to name a few. I'm learning how to play the drums, but it's going slowly because of all the other things I want to do with my time! But I like to bang around on these when I can:

I also love spending time with my friends, who are an awesome collection of people who entertain me and bring me back from the edge before I topple off.

And finally: GO SABRES!!!!!!!!

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet people who aren't afraid to share what they've learned about life; people with open minds and hearts; people who know how to have fun!

The Great Mistake
The Transonics
The Funny Valentines

Plus I'm a huge fan of my local Buffalo Music Scene !!!

(ok, yeah, I still like Def Leppard too. :)

Movies:

Anything that does what movies are supposed to do: distract, entertain, amaze, educate... but mostly entertain! Galaxy Quest; Wicker Park; Chicago; James Bond; Little Miss Sunshine; Napoleon Dynamite; The Departed; Sin City; The Princess Bride; This Is Spinal Tap; anything with John Cusak; most comic book adaptations; Adaptation; Matchstick Men; a lot of what Nick Cage does, now that I think of it; and the occaisional frightfest.

Television:

I am addicted to Scrubs. It has everything I want and I'm not bored of it yet!
I also love Lost, most home decorating shows (although they're really getting out of hand these days..! - I'd rather watch This Old House!), and I've been watching the Sarah Silverman Program (not sure "love" fits that one, but it's weird and wild and funny). I can watch just about anything, but try not to park myself in front of the tube for too long. (that's why the home decorating stuff works.. after about 45 minutes I have to go tackle some project..!!)

Books:

Stephen King, especially the Dark Tower series
Tad Williams' Otherland Series - scary and amazing!!
Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series - the perfect fantasy read.
I love to grab some random work of modern lit, too, including graphic novels (especially those written by friends in the business).

Heroes:

Lots of people for lots of reasons, but I have to mention my friend Brian, who's been living the life I wish I could. He let go of the career and the home and all the stuff and went out to see the world; he studies with experts in whatever he wants to know, and he's learning how to be the best of himself and sharing those lessons with everyone he meets. I can't describe the impact he's had on my life and how grateful I am for his perspective and support. I wish everyone could have a friend like him!
