I am here for Friends

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4I'm Erika and I'm thirty-something, living in Queens with my husband (10 years!) and two cats. I've written several short stories for "Twisted Dreams, the magazine for those whose blood runs a deeper shade of red" and interviewed cult goddess Lynn Lowry last year. Check it out here! http://www.lulu.com/content/378955 Now we're working on a movie with her called "Schism" scheduled to shoot in the fall, check the Myspace page below for details.I'm also written and made several short films/videos with my amazing visionary husband Derek. This is an early one we made in Pittsburgh before we were married. My first writing project was an hour long movie shot on 16 mm called "Cricket." It's about a naive girl who's taken in by a group of kids that party a lot and do drugs almost constantly. Here's the trailer, I'm really proud of it.There are more under Videos. Anyway, I don't like to talk much about myself, but I'm a picture hound and take photos of everything.

My Interests

Writing, making movies, meeting people, cult movies, horror, anything campy, Betty Boop, dancing, taking pictures of everything (I'm the tourist of life), animation, costumes, books, spirituality, paganism, pantheism, Buddhism, Hinduism, meditation, laughing and surfing Youtube.

I'd like to meet:

Movie fans, writers, people who don't take themselves too seriously. Spiritual fruits (not religious nuts). Here I am with "Weird Al" Yankovic on 6/1/07. He's my hero.I was terribly nervous, but he was just the sweetest guy. These are from various Chiller Theatre conventions. Because they rock. This is Nick Stahl from "Carnivale."Here's Lara Palmer herself, Sheryl Lee (making me feel a bit gawky...)And the little man from another place, Michael J. Anderson. He asked me if I was a witch and I replied "not yet."And Scream Princess Tiffany Shepis, showing hers while I'm hiding mine...And probably my all time favorite meeting, Neale Donald Walsche, author of "Conversations With God."Once again I was terribly nervous, but he gave me that huge hug!Now if I could meet David Lynch or Robert Smith, I would be one very happy girl!

Music:

The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Bauhaus, Curve, Bjork, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, The Ramones, Neds Atomic Dustbin, The Dickies, Buzzcocks, Bad Religion, Descendents, Stereolab, Ladytron, Air, Oingo Boingo, movie soundtracks, etc. And yes Weird Al. I was supposed to take a trip abroad this year and when it fell through, I finally broke down and got his last CD. And I never realized how brilliant he is. In a short period of time, I collected (almost) all of his CDs, the video and live DVDs, two White & Nerdy tee shirts (one autographed) and I saw him live 4 times. There's a long story behind that, but I'm not complaining. Road trips...listening to "Running with Scissors" for the first time on the bus to Atlantic City...playing in the jungle gym after the show at the Keswick...finally getting to dance to "Albuquerque"...naturally taking dozens of pictures...some of my favorites:What a look he's giving me! Maybe b/c I was all like "don't sing to me, it'd freak me out!"And this one, because it almost gave me a heart attack."and she leaned down next to me...and she took my picture..."Me and my dear friend ShinyStarlet - I love you girl!!!What a fun summer, thanks Shiny - and thanks Al!!

Movies:

(TOP 10 I could watch over and over...) Faster Pussycat Kill! Books:

Biographys, true crime, Stranger in a Strange Land, Illusions, The Stranger, Jitterbug Perfume and The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer. I just finished David Lynch's book on transcendental meditation "Catching the Big Fish" All of Mary Woronov's books. Lately I'm reading a lot of Beatrice Sparks to prepare for my own teenage drama as well as Blossom Elfman. It's taken years to find her books, so I just got, like 10 of them.I'm also hopelessly addicted to Harry Potter and happy with Book 7. I'll have to read it again soon.

Heroes:

Lewis Carroll, Mary Woronov JK Rowling, "Weird Al" Yankovic, David Lynch, Max Fleischer, John Kricfalusi, Tex Avery and Harold Lloyd

This is Halloween!

Well, I'm not working once again.  Long story, but I'm ready for the next adventure!  Plus, it was nice having Halloween with no curfew.  We got to the parade kind of late...and so did ...

Work stuff & rockabilly.

So it's been a busy couple of weeks, but good!  We had auditions for our movie and they were fantabulous - we've got a really talented cast.  We even created a character for one girl because...

More weird pics!

I don't know.  It's been a bit of a crappy year for me.  So I've been escaping in one thing that automatically makes anyone happy (while annoying the hell out of everyone else, my husband in...

Mermaid Parade 2007!

How many times is Myspace going to crash on me before it lets me upload pics?  I shrunk them all, maybe they were just too big.  So let's try this for - what - the fifth time??  Well, n...

My Weird Weekend!

First off, the job's going well. I think. It's very detail oriented and I get confused easily enough as it is...but everyone's patient and I'm catching on. Slowly but surely. I'm in that odd geeky pla...

Good bad news

Well Friday I got fired.  It's happened before, but last time they gave me warning.  This time, I had no idea I was doing so badly.  Truthfully though - I don't think I was.  I tal...
