100 & Better!!!

About Me

First, I'd like to begin by saying thanks for taking the time out to visit myspace. Second, I'd like to thank all of my followers for their much needed support, it has been GREATLY appreciated. And finally, for all those who don't know, allow me to tell you a little bit about my journey. It has been 20 years since I first penned lyrics to a sheet of paper, and about 11 years since I produced my first record. Needless to say, music runs through my veins. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, home of many rap legends. I had the dream of being an entertainer pretty early on. I immediately fell in love with Hip-Hop, after seeing a live performance at a house party I attended with my Mother when I was 8 years old. The next day, I somehow got up the courage to ask dude to show me how to rap. It only took about ten minutes for me to catch on. Soon after, I was at my dining room table writing lyrics to every beat that I heard on the radio. I guess old habits never kick. By the time I hit High School I was completely out of my shell as a lyricist. Banging on hallway walls, beat boxing in the back of the classroom, battles in the lunchroom, I did it all. I remember performing at nightclubs before my partner at the time, SONNY or I was even legal to drink. My homie TEARS would have to vouch for us, and persuade the bouncers to let me in to perform. That experience helped me get my show game up. I was young, performing in front of packed clubs and getting a lot of love for it. I ran with a few rap crews over the years, (THE ROUDY BUNCH out of L.I., THE AMPHIBIANS out of D.C., and one I personally helped pioneer, K.R.O.R.S.T. LIFE out of Brooklyn) but how I became a YUNGKING has less to do with my talent on the mic, and more to do with my skills on the Keyboards. My career in Production actually started more out of necessity than desire to become a hot producer. Like a lot of Rap Artist, finding a worthy producer is like finding a needle in a haystack. Then, after you find one, you realize persuading them to hand you their best work for promise of future payment is equally as challenging. Rather than let this scenario hinder my efforts, I thought, "Why not produce myself ?". I was already used to picking out the samples I wanted to use in certain records. In most cases, all the producer had to do was add a drum beat. So I made the transition relatively easy. Over the summer of '96, I saved up every penny I had, bought my first AKAI S 01 sampling machine, a Roland Sequencer and a Yamaha Midi Keyboard. This was at the peak of the S 950 / SP 1200 era, so I had to work twice as hard to compete. Eventually I started to produce for my fellow crew members. As soon as I thought I was good enough, I started handing out Beat Tapes. The beats were cool, but everyone, myself included, knew I had a ways to go. My lil' brother YOUNG REGULAR was actually the first artist outside of SONNY or myself, to record a song to one of my tracks. We were equally pleased with the outcome. Nowadays you could still feel the chemistry between me and YOUNG REG on joints like "Be Hustlin'", "New York", and "Get It In" to name a few. Right around the time I was starting to come into my own as a producer, I had known CITY SLICKAS for about a year and a half. We had met at an audition held by MISTER B. late '95. They had to be the DOPEST unknown producers in all of Brooklyn. I remember poppin' up at their studio whenever I completed a new Beat Tape. I always looked forward to their opinion on how I was developing. I'd spend hours in the studio asking questions and soaking up knowledge. One day the inevitable happened when they offered me a spot on the roster. I quickly accepted, and the rest is history.

What Can And Cant Be Sacrificed: Part 1, A GEM

What's Good Myspace? First off, I know there's a lot of reasons NOT to give a new artist as much as even a 2nd glance. We have an over-flooded market, countless over-hyped flunky album...
