About Me

Last Years Men – The Naked Truth! The vast majority of their audiences believe that Last Years Men are a punk rock tribute band who play classic covers, when in truth they are anything but. If you are one of this ‘majority’ then read on and discover the truth! In actual fact all the tunes you hear at an LYM gig are the bands original material! Yes, that’s right! All the bands material has been written by either members of the current line up – for example, ‘Silly Thing’ was written by The Hammer, inspired by a bout of impotence – or by past members of the band such as Jimmy Pursey (LYM ’76) Jake Burns (LYM ’78) Johnny Rotten – nee Lydon – (LYM ’79 & 83) or Marc Almond (failed new romantic elecro-gay-punk experiment ’81).There is no doubt that LYM have been the single biggest influence on the Punk Rock genre over the past one-hundred and fifty-two years, with former band members going on to have moderate to great success with their own LYM ‘tribute’ acts such as The Clash, Buzzcocks, Stiff Little Fingers, Sham 69, The Buggles and the Sexy Pistols to name but a few. But at the end of the cliché, in the immortal words of Nicholas Ashford and Valerie Simpson ‘There aint nothin’ like the real thing baby!”(Desky 2006)
