I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I want to be John Peel when I grow up. Or David Sedaris. Barring that, a journalist or somebody that works with publishing or new media.

An army of vinyl toys is slowly taking over my home.

I have a gunmetal gray kitten named Thor. He's the metal-ist kitten ever.

I accumulate cookbooks and kitchen equipment like it's my job. (Who else do you know that asked her parents for a professional grade mixer and knives for her last two birthdays?). Current cooking obsessions: Thai, vegan baking, Spanish/tapas.

I get overly excited by cool tech stuff, especially when related to audio. My new goal: building a ribbon mic.

I'm restless.

My Interests

History, fairy tales, anime, comic books, manga, geisha, Japan, gothic lolita culture, Asian cinema, bad horror movies, drawing, paper crafts, sewing, knitting, music, singing, audio production, Pro Tools, InDesign, NPR, BBC, cooking, reading, writing, video games, web design, geeky technology, politics, eerie-weirdy stuff, eBay, studying dictators/serial killers/megalomaniacs/Rasputin, reading missed connections on Craigslist that are related to saunas or shrubbery or locker rooms, Kid Robot, vinyl toys, re-learning to drive.

I'd like to meet:

Pirates--the sea kind, not the software kind. Strangers with yummy candy.

PJ Harvey. Yoshitaka Amano. Neil Gaiman. Joss Whedon. Alan Moore. Kim Jong-il. Simon Doonan. Michael Pollan. David Sedaris. Sarah Michelle Gellar. Tyra Banks. Nicole Richie. Tara McPherson. James Jean.

Sylvia Massy Shivy, one of the most kick-ass female recording engineers. Peter Heppner of Wolfsheim so I can kidnap him and make him sing for me whenever I want. Jemima Rooper, the hottest lesbian ghost ever to grace a television screen.

John Peel, Elliott Smith, Edward Gorey, Rasputin, Vlad Tepes, and Chairman Mao--if they were still alive.

People who want a studio monkey to set up mics and do their bidding for free.
