In the heart of the greater Los Angeles area, between the Inland Empire and the San Gabriel Valley, lies the City of Pomona, the birth place of hip-hop’s newcomer Chili Chil. After succeeding in creating a considerable buzz with the strategic release of his first mixtape, rightfully titled "Young & Independent", the California-bred emcee name started to circulate beyond the perimeters of his close-knit neighborhood.
"Rap is not really that big in my city, but I hope to take it to another level. So people can actually see, it is a chance not just for Los Angeles area but for California as a whole".
Hip-Hop became a gateway to the rap world, for the West Coast rhyme sayer, while many of his friends and peers succumbed to the street life. Finishing High School became a important factor to the young rapper, in order to get his mother’s blessings to continue music.
" I did things in my life that reflect the environment I grew up in but as I got older my level of maturity surpass the streets corners and the gang mentality. I made a conscious decision to change and focus on music," he adamantly maintains.
Every so often the game gives birth to a new breed of rappers, who have a grasp on the present and reject the notion that a hit single must possess the cheesy R&B-rap hybrid sound perforating airwaves across America. This being the reason, the multi-talented producer/rapper is manning the boards, leaving his destiny in his own hands while, embodying hip-hop’s spirit of independent success.
When the West Coast beatsmith is not in the studio churning out hits, the energetic rapper is battling foes with his Krump dance moves, that fuses the gritty and aggressive dance with hip-hop music.
The young and brash contender realizes rhyming with a purpose is of paramount concern, if one seeks to have longevity in the rap game. This is shown on the infectious first single "Say Nothing,"
"A lot of people, when they hear something different will still compare you to someone. They feel it is nothing out there different, everyone sounds the same. When I made that song, I’m saying "Say Nothing"you are instantly going to know Im bringing it like no other, lyrically and production wise it speaks for it’s self".
Now outfitted to bring his very own unique offering, music lovers are fascinated by his futuristic beats and verbal assault on the mic. A good case example is "Ghetto Star", an anthemic song that pays tribute to his West Coast roots.
Get It", is an energy filled track made specially for the popularized Krump dance that displays the 18 year old, 6’2 rapper’s pride-filled rhymes with a high energy and club-oriented feel.
Already armed with a remarkable catalog of hits and future plans to upstart his own production company, Spacestar Production, Chili Chil has no choice but to be at the forefront of the next great music movement.
