A New York native born into a family of singers and musicians, Stanley Jamal Hampton has been singing and drumming since the age of four. His mother (a choir director) encouraged him to express himself through his voice. At age 13, he captured the attention of the legendary R&B group Blue Magic; Jamal was hired as a touring drummer to play live gigs from 1993 - 2008.
In 96 Producer Bert Price impressed with Jamals explosive talent, began his search for other similarly accomplished boys to form an R&B Boy Band. After discovering John Fitch (Bass), Olamide Faison (Guitar), and Talib Kareem (Piano) a natural artistic chemistry emerged, Imajin. The group of child prodigies worked with Price to secure a recording deal with Jive records. For two years the boys toured throughout the United States and Europe to promote there self titled album Imajin and there single Shorty which went gold on the charts. After spending four years together the boys decided to venture out and explore their individual goals. The group still has over 5000 working websites where their fans can follow their careers.
Focused on becoming a solo singer Jamal spent his time perfecting his sound by studying the techniques of singers such as Karen Clark Sheard, Kim Burrell, and Marvin Wynans. Jamal sites I want to make a mark in this industry. There are so many artists that are here today and gone tomorrow. I have always dreamed of being a legendary singer, a true icon is what I aspire to be.
Jamal is now broadening his horizons by spending his free time Writing and Co-Producing songs for his project and fellow artists. He now holds a title of being an Artist, Musician, Songwriter and Producer.***************************************************
