About Me
Ciao everbody and thanks for visitng Myspace!
It seems that there are several Patrizios on here at the moment but I wanted to reassure you all that this is my official Myspace so don’t be fooled :-)OK, for those who have no idea what I am doing and wanna find out more about me and my music, I guess you should check out my official website on www.patriziobuanne.com.
This page here, is exclusively for all my friends and fans, and for those who want to become such. When I say friends, than I mean people who have positive, good and nice intentions to “catch up†and not those who want to make stupid jokes or fun of someone else.
This is suppose to be like a home, so put yourself in the position how it would feel when someone comes in your house with dirty boots.....Exactly! So, EVERYONE IS WELCOME always, but be fair and clean.
Well, what else can I say? Yes, for those who just joined: I love meeting people from all different corners of the world, who have funny and interesting stories of life to share.
Let me share with you MY story, hope it is interesting. My international debut album "The Italian"(released 2005 by Universal records) and my 2nd album, "Forever Begins Tonight"(released 2007 by Universal records)introduced me to most of you, became not only my dream come true, but my ticket to travel the world and the great opportunity to introduce people another side of italian music and my culture.
“Being Italian†doesn’t mean that I have to be a classical trained opera singer. Or sing just “Nessun dorma†or “Volareâ€.
That would be the same as if you would say that Italian food is only pizza or spaghetti and that every Italian is a character from the movie classic “the Godfather†or “the Sopranosâ€, but something more. Something that I wanted to share with the world.
Well, I didn’t want to change anything about what people know of Italy and the Italians-I just wanted to add something to it, expend it.
What and how is the Italy of the 21st century? Has its culture only to do with just history and clichés that some of you know from some books or movies? What are the traditions and values that reunite generations and make people enthusiastic about us Italians? Well, it’s life style to some extend. We call it “La Dolce Vitaâ€.
Did you know that the song “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me†made famous by Dusty Springfield, is consider to be an English or American standard, although it was originally written in 1963 by Pino Donaggio named “Io Che Non Vivoâ€? Same with “Your’re my worldâ€, “A man without loveâ€, “I(who have nothing)â€, “I have but one heart".....Ah-Well, here we go, you knew more about Italian music than you might have thought.
Check out my albums and find out what I mean, as I have recorded a compilations of all these songs that I was brough up listening and are pretty essential for the Italian songbook on 2 CD’s and 2 DVD’s. So you don’t need to get yourself a flight to Italy to find it out!
While artists like Norah Jones, Barry Manilow, Rod Steward or Michael Buble have dedicated themselves to pay tribute to the “great American songbookâ€, it was important to me to explain that “the Italian songbook†is not less knows, loved and has its impact and importancy in the contemporary music.
One fine day, while I had one of my cafe breaks in the recording studio, I suddenly had that thought of experimenting a bit to featuring more the Italian language in order to introduce it to an audience that so far would not care less listening to Italian music. I wished to share also with them, my culture, language and sound. So, I started to record some of the world’s greatest international love songs in Italian and Spanish.
Great ballads like the Crowded House song “Don’t dream it’s over†which became “Alta Mareaâ€, “Always On My Mind’ which became “Vives en mi Corazon†(as my tribute to the 30th anniversairy of Elvis’ death)and “Angels†became “Un angeloâ€, that the songwriters Guy Chambers and Robbie Williams himself heard and has personally approved to be his first cover version ever in a foreign language.
It was so much fun doing all of that, that I even thought of recording " Don’t ya wish your boyfriend was italian like me" but that was a bit too cheeky.
Well, apparantly I have caused now quite a stir in the Pop-music industry, as more "Patrizio’s" or those who wanna sing in Italian followed. While I had to convince in the beginning of my album releases that singing Italian or being romantic is not cheesy or boring, I nevertheless got through all the prejudice and opened a window in the industry. Singing Italian in the UK and all over the world became cool. I never understood why suddenly some british, american or chinese singers did want to sing now in Italian. As if they would not have had their own language so far. But I guess when someone is succesfull, some people want to jump on that trend and have the same. That is why everybody is coping for example Pavarotti or Bocelli. To me it seems funny when you suddenly find on all those album releases the same songs that have been covered many, many times before. I guess that is the reason why I never wanted to do things that just someone has done before me and if, then different. Make the song sound as if you would own it. But it is always a great challenge to make a research on some good old songs or write new material than being a juke box and play it just for the reason that it brings money. Music will stay for me always a tonic for the soul that you can share with people, rather than an industry. However with all the great experiences, I guess I can be happy that chapter 1 of my career (my 2 albums: "The Italian" and "Forever begins tonight")went well and I that I may consider myself lucky for being allowed to be myself and have success with it. Thanks to you.
After the release of my albums in the US and by breaking records at PBS stations across America,(in the beginning I thought PBS stands for Patrizio Buanne Special) which lead by huge demand to a six week tour of major theatres and concert venues across the nation, have resulted that one of the biggest managers(Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Neil Diamond, Macy Gray, Dolly Parton, Kenny G, Hanna Montana…) has been convinced to work on the next step in my career, or call it chapter 2.In fact, due to the great responds and demand in the US market, I am spending a great deal of time now also in the US working on a new PBS special and at the moment I am standing again in studio recording my 3rd album. Not convinced how to call it yet, but all I can say is that, so you can be sure that there is more passion along with some original material that was written during my concert tours and promotions, following.
And no I did not forget about my fans and friends in the UK, SA, OZ, NZ, Austria, Finnland, ASIA,.....I will be back very soon and also hopefully tour at the end of 2008.-Around my birthday.
However, let me tell you this. There is so much negative stuff going on in the news, politics, media,……..why going deeper into sadness and anger?
My personal goal is to bring people up, not down. Painting the world colourful by smiling. It is about making our planet a positive place.
Being romantic does not mean being boring or old/fashioned, or being funny without being primitive or vulgar, does not mean to be uncool.
I think it is about time for me to share these thoughts that I have put down and recorded, with my fans and audiences worldwide-that’s my personal chapter 2.
Once the songs are ready, Check it out and let me know your thoughts. I am sure some of you have posted stuff on www.youtube.com, just like paparazzi. However, do not turn into a obsessed alien just use the great chance to make some friends here on myspace. That’s what it’s all about. Come together. Make friends all over the world. "Il mondo"

Patrizio
