Ricky Mena AKA Venom Was born inside a military facility on June 28th 1983 in Fort Knox, Kentucky Where Ricky's father was stationed in the army. Born a few months premature Ricky was already against the odds as he spent the first month of his life in an incubator fighting for his life. After a month had passed Ricky became strong enough to return home and this is when Ricky's mother decided to move to Oakland California. Ricky spent his younger years there attending Hawthorn Elementry in East Oakland. At the Age of 9 Ricky's parents decided to move Ricky and his younger sister to Pittsburg California. All of Ricky's life he listened to music and has an ear for type of music that gave you goose bumps and made you feel a certain way and when he turned to the age 12 the pen and pad became his best friends as he began writing poetry. Attending Village elementry, Central Jr. high and eventually Pittsburg High School Ricky managed to avoid the street life surrounding him thanks to music. At age 14 Ricky began recording in his own home, buying singles for the instrumental tracks and using the kareoke machine to record them to tape. After recording a few tracks Ricky put them all on one tape and walked around his neighborhood with it playing in a boom box for everyones critisism. After hearing what Ricky had to offer the neighborhood wanted more and Ricky gave'em exactly that. As years passed and Ricky became 16 years of age he came across local producer SLAMMIN SAM who introduced him to RAPPIN 4-TAY. At age 16 Ricky recorded his first professional track with rappin 4-tay called "Get Ready". Ricky's skills in writing and performing in the studio brought him local attention quickly. Local people who knew Ricky began calling him VENOM because in hip hop terms VENOM means the elite or the best, saying if you "spit venom" your at the top of your game or highest level. Ricky felt the name suited him well and stuck with it. At age 17 Venom had a fall out with his father and most of his family and was forced to live on his own. After graduating High School Venom then moved around a lot trying to find his place in the world. He then found himself back in Antioch ( a town that neighbors pittsburg) Working with local producer SIDEWAYS. After recording two solo albums (This is me & Warrior) with Sideways and the fellow LIVEWIRE camp Venom felt the need to Venture out and find out what he really was made of. One stop was Long Beach California where he met Archangel and recorded the classic "Above And Beyond" Mixtape. Now back in the Bay Area Venom is now branching out more then ever and people are discovering that his talent is not just limited to Rapping. In the past year Venom has produced several beats for local artists and himself in the NUTTHOUSE LAB, has done song writing for R&B singers, has Ghost written for several rappers while still continueing his climb as a rapper. Every song is another level for Venom and he intends on being well known and one day signed to a mjor lable. More then a perfectionist, Venom will not settle for anything but the top....So keep your eyes on'em...because The diamond in the dirt wont stay unseen for long and whoever discovers it first benefits its value......VENOMMUSIC.NET
