About Me

Rusty Egan has been a DJ for a few years and he just loves it. It’s so simple I can't seem to say more on the subject. Hey DJ put a record on, I wanna Dance with somebody... Rusty Egan is one of the most renowned DJ’s in London’s Boutique nightclub circuit. A passionate musician, he first made a name for himself in the late 1970's and early 80's as a drummer for the British New Wave band The Rich Kids (founded by former Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock) with Midge Ure lead guitar and vocals. After the band was disbanded, he continued working with Midge Ure enjoying considerable success and fortune with well-known groups like Visage. During the recording and writing for Visage's 1980 debut album Visage including the world No.1 Fade to Grey, Rusty recorded the The Skids 2nd top 10 album Days in Europa as drummer with Richard Jobson and Stuart Adamson [Big Country].He began his prominent DJ career at Blitz Club 1979-1981, one of the most influential nightclubs in London in the 1980s, where he introduced German Electronica to the British club scene. As the club grew in popularity, Rusty was quickly recognized as an innovator within London’s nightlife. Approached with offers from several club owners, Rusty traveled to Paris, Berlin, Dusseldorf and New York for influences and 1 year later opened 2000 capacity Camden Palace, with Performances by Eurhythmics, Wham, FGTH, Madonna, Visage, and new and up and coming artists - some of whom eagerly brought him debut records and others like Thompson Twins, and Yes’s "Owner of a Lonely Heart" to spin on the dance floor. Paul Okenfold, Mark Moore, and Jeremy Healey all site Rusty Egan as the pioneer of Electronic Dance Music in London Clubs. As one of the owners of Trident Recording Studios in Soho, Rusty produced by day and DJ'd by night turning down offers to drum for Simple Minds due to recording commitments, (later a decision he regrets). To create was the drug in the studio world. Here, he produced Rock Bands Chiefs of Relief, Spear of Destiny, The Cult, UK Decay, and many emerging bands that came to Trident Studios during the 80's, working with some of the best producers and sound engineers including Flood and Alan Moulder amongst many.Rusty was at the heart of creating and pioneering dance records for artists such as Nona Hendrix, Didier Rominelli, Burundi Black, Visage, and The Senate, writing Timezone's Wildstyle for Africa Bambaata and RERB 'B' side of Shocks Angel Face. Years later U2 kindly asked him to MD Mother Records and released his electro cover of Led Zeps "Whole Lotta Love" as PULSE, his appetite for DJ-ing was rekindled by the new era of digital downloads: Lap Top DJ's and the music being available to everyone via the Internet. With an eclectic mix of music that spans several decades, his unique style won him the ‘Best DJ Award 2005’ at London Club & Bar Awards. He has played at many of London’s top Clubs and Parties including Boujis, Chinawhite, Umbaba, Boutique 60 and Aura. Currently resident DJ at M1NT London, Kitts, Boujis, Kingly and will play Mamalanji as well as private parties including M1NT House @ Cannes film festival 2007, Monaco, and 4 nights to the Rock Audience at the Isle of Wight Festival 2007.
