Death of an Escort is a movie about Renn Ortenburger, his love of racing, and his contempt for his Ford Escort.
To bridge the gap between his ownership of his Lotus Elite and his Lotus Elise, Renn picked up the Escort, which wasn't in bad shape. The car got progressively worse as his friends began stickering, keying, and kicking the Escort every chance they got. But what the hell, it's only a secondary car.
Until Renn's bad luck was transferred onto the Elise. Minor incidents (can we call that Deer 'minor'?) kept Renn in the Escort longer than planned while small repair jobs were done. Finally, in early '06, Renn put the Elise into the highway's center divider at about 80 MPH. He was fine, but the car needed some serious work. Back to the Escort, Renn went.
Over the last 6 months, driving the Escort exclusively, Renn's patience with the Escort and this society that shuns him has come to a boiling point. The Lotus will be back soon, so it's time.
It's time for the Death of an Escort.
