art (painting and the arts in general)(metalworking and jewelry making, sculpture, fiber arts), music (mostly anything, I love my guitar, I like to sing) cooking, poetry, psychology, Power of the people...................................................... ................................................... Us crazy artsy folks can keep each other from drinking ourselves to death if we can find the time to support each other, give each other hope for the species, make each other realize that we are not alone.....I passionately believe this could help us become better artists and better humans. In a world that is so easy to drown in, we must keep our voices floating, and maybe we can help those who feel that they have none or who feel that nobody gives a shit.
David Crosby, Joni Mitchell, Les Claypool, Graham Nash, Trey Anastasio, Ian Anderson ( Jethro Tull), Jesus, Jimi Hendrix, my ancestors... artists and revolutionaries
CSN,The Beatles, the Doors, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull, Joni Mitchell,Steeleye Span, The Guess Who, Tom Petty, Santana, The Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, classic rock mostly, but a little bit of everything (classical, celtic, middle-eastern, old madrigals, ancient drinking songs, sea chanties.) I play by ear, and enjoy music that is more complex than not, hard to "pick out" without the music on a page, tight harmonies :)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Where the Buffalo Roam, Batman(with Jack as the Joker), The Dark Crystal, Reds,All The President's Men, The Graduate, Carnal Knowledge, Almost Famous, Seven,The Changeling (creepy movie with George C. Scott) Braveheart, Kingdom of Heaven (reguardless of historical accuracy, maybe it's the music that does it for me), The 13th Warrior (some badass viking flick that happens to have Antonio Banderas in it, this also has cool music) etc.
Law and Order, The West Wing, House.........................even those I don't watch very often. Most T.V. is frustratingly stupid these days. Don't watch American Idol. It'll fry your brain. Kill your television.
To Kill A Mockingbird(Harper Lee), Jitterbug Perfume (Tom Robbins), The Tommyknockers (Stephen King), Animal Farm (George Orwell), Messy Spirituality(Michael Yaconneli), The Screwtape Letters (C.S. Lewis), The Time Machine (H.G.Wells) The Crucible (ok, so it's a play...by Arthur Miller) other reading material includes Shakespeare, comic books(Batman!), Poe, Ray Bradbury...
Jesus. All about peace and love, amongst other things. The first true hippie. You want to idolize a rebel, here's the the one. Hung out with hookers and the other refuse of society that nobody else wanted to be around because he saw past their flaws, has a genuine love for people regardless of what they've done or where they've been in their lives. He kicks so much ass.
