IF YOU'RE SAD AND LIKE BEER, I'M YOUR LADY...

About Me

MY BAND 'COMA GHOST' LIVE AT THE STONE PONY IN ASBURY PARK, NJ PLAYING "ORIGAMI EYES"!:After moving across the country form Washington State to Brooklyn New York, with nothing but 2 suitcases not knowing a soul, my current labour of love is COMA GHOST, the band which I am the lead singer and lyricist for. I joined them in March of 2007 and we've written original music and have gotten our feet wet playing live in New York City. The band consists of Drums, Guitar, Bass and Various Electronic Effects. I've never been so musically fulfilled with any prior musical endevour. I've never really had spirit or a huge senes of pride for anything before Coma Ghost, so I hope this band is shapping up to be an indelible fixture in my life, we shall see... Check us out on our myspace: www.myspace.com/comaghost, or at our website: www.comaghost.com (currently under construction, check back soon) for more info. For a musical history of my life before New York, read on:I grew up in Spokane, Washington listening to my Brother & his friends making hip hop beats & writing rhymes. One day I thought I would like to write songs to some of his softer less "hip-hopish" beats and record with them, but Alak! I was painfully shy and did not attempt it untill I was 16 when I wrote and recorded my first song ever titled "Vitriolic". Soon after, a switch flipped on inside me and I was no longer shy about my singing and began writing and recording my first album which was entitled: "Climb Inside the Ornament". This was recorded at my brother's bachelor pad (at the time around '98-'00). We made a make-shift recording booth out of the neighboring laundry room and in some of the tracks you can hear the water rustling through the pipes overhead. Around this time also, I fell in love with jazz music and the Cocteau Twins respectivley where I draw most of my inspiration from. Upon several attempts at putting different bands together in Spokane TO NO BLOODY AVAIL!!!, my brother and I collaborated again, and in the summer of '2005 we put together a musical project called MUSETTE where we covered Cocteau Twins, Wire and a rendition of Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit" along with some of my originals. Our format was my brother on the 505 Roland Groove Box, an electric piano with some cheap cheesy keyboard stacked atop of it, and I had all vocal and arranging duties. My friend Perla dubbed our sound: "Electronica Death Jazz" which is funny but oddly enough a very good descriptor. MUSETTE made it a few gigs out, but was eventually fin! Mostly I have worked on solo projects collaborating with my very talented brother Omar whose music you can find on MySpace (Look on my top friends for "AwkWord-O") the tracks on my profile were recorded May-July of 2006. I hope you can appreciate them even in their rough unpolished form.
