My family, animal rights/welfare, environmental issues, animal rescue, working towards starting an animal sanctuary, collecting/gazing at fonts (particularly ill-gotten commercial beauts), cacti and succulents, gardening, music, motorcycling, IKEA, Neopets, Nutrinopets, health and fitness, and learning about nut-cases (that's one thing I love about my job ... hearing about the seedy underbelly of society). And I love psychoanalyzing people. *muwahahahahaha*

I'm here to network with people who have similar interests to mine (crazy music, defenders of animals and champions of the environment, etc.), not just to pad someone's "Friends" list. I don't need the shallow boost of having thousands of friends in my "Friends" box, just to fool myself into thinking I'm special or popular.
I add people to my list once I get to know them or as a gag or to show my "colours" ... not just on a whim. Like most women on here, I seem to get countless propositions from shirtless men sending out corny form letters to dozens of "targets". Or lots of sappy letters from lonely-hearts (but just in case they're legitimate, I always send a kind note declining their advances).
In general, I will forgive anyone almost anything if they love animals and speak up for those who can't speak for themselves. And I really like people who are compassionate, witty, funny, polite, humble, hardworking, unselfish, intelligent, positive, see humour in the world around them, can laugh at themselves, and have no problem acting ridiculous.
MEET SEXY MR. NOVEMBER!
Check out the comedian, Willie Barcena. I have not, in recent memory, laughed as hard as I did watching his act on a recent "Just For Laughs" episode. Genius ... pure genius.
I've always had a penchant for thrashing, speedy, hardcore music. Even now that I'm an old lady. :-) My kids' friends get a real kick out of my tunes. They even think I'm cool (little do they know what a geek I am), but I'm pretty sure their parents don't share their admiration ... oh, well, sure manages to cut down on the number of sleepovers around this place ... hey, nothing wrong with that, right? :-)
I can stomach most kinds of music, except for new country, reggae, and Mariah Carey-ish (I dislike the sound of most female vocalists) type music. My God, a person's got to draw the line somewhere. Early favourites (and continue to be loved) were:

Hallows Eve, Death Militia, Mortal Annoyance (just remembered these guys recently!), Witches Hammer (was reminded of these guys, too, recently!), Exciter, old Metallica, Megadeth, Armoros, Razor, S.F.H., Sepultura, Soulfly, Sodom, Pantera, Exodus, Whiplash, Slayer, Kreator, Anthrax, Celtic Frost, Nunslaughter (had forgotten about these guys!), Death Angel, Corrosion of Conformity, Cannibal Corpse, Possessed, Voi Vod, Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, Black Flag, Annihilator, Nasty Savage, Tankard, Abbatoir, Piledriver, Saxon, Trouble, Scorpions, SOD, MOD, Venom, Napalm Death, Bunchof*ckingoofs, Sh*tloads of F*ck All, Death Sentence, Random Killing, DOA, Dirty Bird, The Cult, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Motorhead, Overkill, Sacred Reich, Insane Clown Posse (Piggy Pie days), Green Jelly, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Suicidal Tendencies, Witchfinder General, Helloween, Queensryche, Agent Steel, Hirax, White Zombie/Rob Zombie ... all right, all right, you get the point.
More current bands (well, new to me) that give me a jolt are 3Tards, The Antics, Interzone, Goryptic, Mudvayne, Korn, Lamb of God, Arch Enemy, Disturbed, Hatebreed, Slipknot, System of a Down, Unearth, Burn to Black, Municipal Waste, Psychotic Gardening, Gojira, Cardiac Arrest, Severed, Operation Winter Mist, EndProgram, Bloodshoteye, Deamon, Strapping Young Lad, Zimmers Hole, Daath, Tenet ... and some less abrasive/aggressive goodies, but my wee brain doesn't want to work right now. I can only think of Blink 182, Staind, Theory of a Deadman, Nickelback, Everlast, Eminem, Days of the New, Three Doors Down, and Outkast for now. My kids share the same taste in music as me, which really is kind of wrong. Hard for them to rebel, musically speaking. They crank it up to be obnoxious ... and Mommy dances faster. :-) Pretty twisted scenario.
I definitely love cheesy music from the 80s. I also get a kick out of old jingles for TV commercials and shows from my youth. I hated country and western as a kid (my mom and dad cranked it out hours and hours each and every day), but now I have a real nostalgic fondness for twangy old bluegrass stuff and people like Hank Williams and Hank Snow.
Really energetic Celtic and Cajun music gets my blood a-pumpin', too! Throw the bagpipes in there, as well ... I get bleary-eyed every time I hear them, but I think that might be that sh*tty awkward feeling you get when you feel embarrassed for someone.
To Kill a Mockingbird, Army of Darkness (Evil Dead), 40 Year Old Virgin, Dodgeball, Ace Ventura, Meet the Parents, The Green Mile, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, Saw, Silence of the Lambs, Scary Movie 2 (or whichever one has James Woods as the priest), Freaks, It's a Wonderful Life, When A Stranger Calls (original, not remake), Slingblade, An Inconvenient Truth (Al Gore documentary), Deliverance, The Animals Film, The Iron Giant... Anything that can make me laugh hysterically, scare the bejesus out of me (movies about unbalanced individuals are the best, because it could really happen!), disturb me, or make me feel changed/bettered as a person. Not really into blockbusters ... it's usually the independent schtuff that gets my attention. It sickens me to see animals or children hurt in movies, even though it's not for real.
As a very young kid, I watched Spiderman, Rocket Robin Hood, Hilarious House of Frightenstein, The Uncle Bobby Show, Circle Square (this corny religious show ... see further down for explanation), Sesame Street, Underdog, Mr. Dressup, The Friendly Giant, Romper Room, The Flintstones, Big Al's Talent Showcase, Bugs Bunny Roadrunner Hour, The New Adventures of Pinocchio, The Wizard of Oz, Gumby and Pokey.
I was forced into Hee Haw, The Lawrence Welk Show, The Pig & Whistle, The Beachcombers, etc. I absolutely loved watching SCTV and the Power Hour (an hour of heavy metal videos) every Wednesday at 4:00 on CITY-TV. J.D. Roberts, the former host, is now a respectable White House correspondent. :-)
Now I enjoy all Law and Orders (even though I can't seem to find any fresh ones anymore), Kevin Spencer (haven't seen it for ages ... maybe it got yanked), The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, documentaries, Independent Film Channel, Life Network, Discovery, Trailer Park Boys, stand-up comedy shows, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, Cold Squad (gritty [rhymes with "shitty", I guess] Canadian drama ... other people probably think it sucks, but I love it), Love Connection (I know, I know ... obviously, I'm not playing with a full deck).
I also love the old commercials and television shows from my youth. We only got two channels when I was a kid (we used to get three, but my dad went up on the roof to fix the antenna, and when he got back down ... well, I think you can guess the rest of the story). Anyway, that meant that I didn't have a lot of choice in what I watched.
Unfortunately, no time to read ... not for years. That's sad. I always loved reading as a kid. I was this kooky little "gifted" child. I guess what I have to crack open is my Driver's Handbook. I HAVE TO get my licence. At least before my two oldest kids (15 and almost 14) get theirs. They would never let me live that one down.
My kids. My mom and dad. Mahatma Gandhi. Dalai Lama. George Bernard Shaw. Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter ... here's somebody trying to make this world a better place ... what a loss). David Suzuki. I think I'll pop Cap'n Kirk in here, as well. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, National Anti-Vivisection Society, Animal Alliance of Canada, Zoocheck Canada ... tons more animal rights/environmental people ... too numerous to list.
