Born Ruffians
Red Yellow and Blue
Amazing album, the boys come back with a new (LP)album full of energy and all the songs are single quality. When I went to their Hamilton show a month ago, the crowd was dancing to "hummingbird" and "I need a life" and "foxes mate for life"... I personally love "badonkadonkey" (ps?) But i must say I wasn't a fan of their last EP, Kurt Vonugut wasn't my thing. But this album grabbed my attention and kept it there!! Lead singer Luke Lalonde's register-pushing pipes, mixed with the gang vocals from rhythm section Mitch DeRosier and Steve Hamelin, set these ruffians apart from the over synth pushing indie scene out there today.
Definitely an Itunes buy!! n go see them on their tour across the states, or check them out in town (Toronto) on the 24th!

This new album Seventh Tree is folk inspired, compared to her last effort Black Cherry. I am entranced by her voice, which has a new softness (a kind of whispyness). Her synths are a lot more understated on "Clowns" "little bird" and "Happiness". My favorite on this album have to be "A&E" and the favorite lyrics are "its a blue bright blue staruday". Second favorite is "Cologne Cerrone Houdini" and lyrics are "I'm not your kind i'm not your girl..." the corus is soo catchy i wish i know what she was saying. Her songs aren't as intense as her last effort, they don't have the hit you in the face hook. This album with a lot more strings, guitar picking, and rainy day type music definitely shows her move away from her interest in the IN crowd. I think she will gain a more mature and older fan base. The music has a lot of listening depth to it, as well it seems rounder and carries u, all the songs contain a sort of build. I will definitely recommend a listen.

Ok I am addicted to this!!! It is very 90's, mixed with 80"s synth pop, with a little folky roots. I love the song "I see red" definitely one the stronger ones... If this is a preview to the album I CANNOT wait!! "explode" is amazing, the synth hooks u n, as well as the melody from the vocalists. Its surprising, they have the sound of the Cure, mixed with Cranberries, or Garbage. They are mixing genres, using popular drums beats to power they're simple guitar hooks and synth melodies, they sound british but believe it or not, this is LEISHA HAILEY(the murmurs).... I would keep n eye out.. with their looks and these songs....$$ for sure!
