About Me
Chris Guénard (dj REVIVE), has always taken the road less traveled by, and it has made all the difference. He was born 28 years ago highly gifted; he was a born athlete, and he had a gift for music. Chris began playing the piano at five and soon had mastered a variety of instruments including the violin, bass guitar and drums, just to name a few. Attending junior high and high school in Slidell, Louisiana, minutes from downtown New Orleans, Chris was forced to make a choice. He chose music, but continues to be passionate about all things physical…including sports. One of his proud achievements was being a part of, and playing the sousaphone for LSU's “Golden Band from Tigerland.†Once he graduated, Chris worked as a certified EMT-Paramedic for nearly ten years. His love for music wasn’t forgotten, but it was during this decade that he began to understand and capture the soul of New Orleans. Valerie Ziminsky, a reporter covering the EMS during Katrina, writes of Chris’s highly stressful profession in the volatile New Orleans environment. She speaks of the relief she felt relying on Chris’s strength to get her safely through the disaster. It’s a culmination of these blood-pumping experiences that make Chris Guénard who he is…and it’s Chris Guénard who makes his music what it is. In his early twenties, Chris purchased some lower-end equipment and began to practice his art in his bedroom day after day. He visited a variety of clubs, sampled many different genres of music, and traveled to circuit events across the nation to learn everything he could about his calling. Chris watched the crowd’s reactions; he learned how to pump a crowd, and to work his music, and most especially how to hypnotize and satisfy the primal needs of his people. He’s learned how to reach their hunger, and how to satisfy it with his various styles of house music. You only need to walk into a club with Chris in the DJ booth to understand the power he has over his people. Chris is the King of the Night, the Prince of the Darkness. He can satisfy the longings that the crowd has, but still leave them begging for more. His DJ experiences have included headlining several different venues in New York, Houston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and of course his hometown, New Orleans.
Chris’s eyes are on the future, as he says, "I'm shocking people in a different way. Now it's with a dancfloor, instead of defibrillator paddles" …hence the name ‘REVIVE.’
So when you’re ready to throw away your inhibitions and satisfy your carnal appetites, attend one of his sets….but be prepared to surrender to an urgent, funky, yet a pulsating tribal-drum experience unlike anything you’ve felt before…feel alive, REVIVE!!! - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
