Ilungara est un groupe de Heavy Métal du Pays Basque. Nous distillons un métal anachronique ou d'origine basée sur des riffs à double guitare et des solos...beaucoup de solos (ou soli!!)...parole de bassiste!!!

For our english fans :

ILUNGARA are coming from south-west of France and give us some Heavy Metal in the strict sense of the word (that is faithful to its original definition) and not in the general sense we wildly use to describe mid-tempo bands we could hardly define differently. This is in any case the feeling that comes out of this demo ; the impression - maybe wrong - that too few bands nowadays keep on playing this kind of style, timeless and unadorned. "Following The Flame" contains 4 songs of an average length of 7 minutes (plus a one-minute interlude), obviously inspired by the english men of IRON MAIDEN. The compositions are of a great quality and feature, because of their length, very long solos and very long instrumental parts, a bit in the way of IRON MAIDEN or NOCTURNAL RITES on their debut album "In A Time Of Blood And Fire". The rhythmic base and the lead guitars seem to be the result of a serious and strenuous work, and could even be sufficient unto themselves. I mean, the same album without the vocal lines could very well be as pleasant. While talking about the singing, it's Ivan Estevez, also known as STORMBLAST's current singer, who is behind the micro. Actually, the two bands suffer from the same problem, that is to say a sound much rougher than professional and a rough-and-ready singing. No criticism to make about the solos, if not that some of them would deserve more feeling but on the whole, here we have a very good cd, a bit handicapped with an average production, but with killer-compositions. Grupo de Irún y Hendaya (Guipúzcoa) que comienza a funcionar a mediados de 1996. Formado por Iván Estévez (voz y guitarra), David Cabanillas (guitarra), Benoit Charles(bajo) y Stéphane Dassé (batería). La maqueta fue grabada por sus propios medios y con la ayuda de un ordenador que realmente se le ha sacado un sonido bastante aceptable.

Heavy Metal del corte más clásico es lo que nos ofrece Ilungara en sus 5 temas que componen la maqueta, si bien el riff inicial de Echoes From Hell me hizo pensar que sería algo monótono y aburrido, mis dudas se disipaban conforme avanzaba el tema y por supuesto la maqueta, ganando en elaboración y melodía. Buena elaboración y ejecución con unas influencias Judas-Maiden. Personalmente y sin desmerecer el resto de temas me quedo con Seafoam con esa parte de bajo inicial y por supuesto la parte más trallera y Ilungara con esa acústica instrumental inicial llamada The Awakening y esa parte melódica central. Aunque los temas restantes Echoes from Hell y Doubts sigan en esa onda cañera-melódica constante en el grupo. Buena banda, muy joven y con una buena base a tenor de lo ofrecido en esta maqueta.(The Sentinel Webzine)

Euskaraz :

1996. urtean Hendaian sortutako talde honek bere lehen lana dakarkigu, kalitatezko metalaren dosi galanta emanez. Maketa hau 2003. urtean kaleratu zen eta harrera ona izan du euskal talde amateurraren munduan.

Badirudi Lapurdiko laukote honek beren musika disko formatuan erakusteko momentua iritsi dela, (formazio aldaketak direla eta arazoak izan zituzten) eta beraiek konposatutako bost abestiko maketa honekin merezitako lekua erreklamatzera datozela dirudi. Lanean betidaniko Heavy Metal klasikozko 29 minutuko erakustaldia dugu entzungai.

Maketari hasiera ematen dion kantua, Echoes From Hell, indartsua da oso non laukoteak bere teknika erakusten duen. Batez ere Ivan abeslariak, bere ahotsaren ahalmen guztiaz jabetzen garelako sei minutuko iraupena duen kantuan.

Bigarren abestiari The Aweakening pasarte instrumentalak ematen dio sarrera eta jarraian taldeari izena ematen dion abestia entzun dezakegu. Ilungara kantua oso landua eta indartsua da, eta nire gusturako maketako abesti onenetarikoa. Melodia erakargarriaz gain, azpimarratzekoak diren zati lasai batzuk barnebiltzen ditu, eta noski, ez da falta etxeko marka duen gitarra soloa.

Ondoren, The Seafoam abestia dator. Beste kantu on bat non teklatuek izaera melodikoa ematen dion. Abesti azkarra, baina entzunaz gozatzeko. Lanari ustezko amaiera emanez, Doubts izeneko abestia daukagu. Lan osoan atzeman daitekeen arren, kantu honetan bereziki nabarmentzen da Iron Maiden taldearen eragina. Aipatzekoa da abesti honen erdian entzun dezakegun piano eta gitarran arteko borroka melodikoa. Pasarte honen ondotik, azkartasuna gailendu eta beste kantuetan bezala kalitate handiko gitarra solo bat entzun daiteke. Gerora, ustezko amaiera ematen zion abestiak zentzua galtzen du guztiz, maketaren amaieran ezkutuko bonus track bitxi bat entzun daitekeelako:The Fucking Great. Gauzak honela, barrea eragiten duen kantu xelebre bezain cool-ak ematen dio amaiera maketari.

Ekoizpenari dagokionean, soinu nahiko ona duela esan daiteke. Bestalde, abestiak kalitate handikoak dira bai konposaketa, bai teknikaren aldetik. Azpimarratzekoak dira abesti guztietan aurki ditzakegun gitarra soloak: landuak eta ez astunak. Baita Ivan abeslariaren lana ere. Egia esan, ez naiz oso power metal zalea baina lan honen aurrean balorazio orokor gisa esan dezaket lan borobila osatu dutela. Etorkizunera begira, Ilungara taldeak disko oso bat grabatzea espero dut. Gaitasunik ez zaie falta. (Herriko Burdina)
