NYC! Short story on how I got my name --because EVERYONE wants to know how I look the way I do-{not ghetto}- but yet consider myself "ghetto." So, look here's the explanition and it can be stated quite simply as "hood at heart", you never forget where you come from, or what you've been through to make you who you are. Here's the story,-- I didn't name myself "Ghetto Barbiee"-- the streets did,--the hood, it was a generalization of my personality and look that made the name stick and I've been called it ever since, especially when my mentor and good friend Mr. Tre Black blew my name up "GHETTO BARBIEE" on his nightly radio show here in the N-Y-C. I basically used to just walk down the street and get called all types of names by men hitting on me {because I'm from the hood} so I would be in Harlem or the Heights and I'd here "yo ma, snowflake, cracker," blah, blah, blah {because I was a minority} but the one name that stuck with me was I kept hearing these "blockhuggers, rock runners" call me "Ghetto Barbiee", and that stuck with me. I was being perceived as a "Ghetto Barbiee" "We know you're not lost, you live here, but you don't fit in, you look like a "Ghetto Barbiee." Hence- the name "Ghetto Barbiee" that I still to this day get called by people who DO NOT know me, so I'm really starting to think it's supposed to be my moniker! If you are awkward calling me that you can address me as Valencia, that's my given name.
So who am I and what am I about? Well, I am about many different things and I hustle and grind. Yes, that's me on the hook with Twista and Luda, yes I rhyme. I love music. I have worked in radio and TV as well. Back in the day when I was younger it was possible you may have seen me in Seventeen or YM magazine as well as an O-Town video, a Rah Digga video{hey it's REAL back in the day!{lol} I did a print campaign for Metamorphis by Swavarski Crystal, and represented Vitro by Alejandra, I also was featured in the Always campaign from Procter and Gamble. Let's see-what else, I used to dance on a Spanish version of Soul Train called Club La Bomba with Sofia Vergara and I was on a show called "Trackers" that use to air on Oxygen, as well as a commercial for PSA Drug Free America. The sky is the limit, and I believe you get what you give. I am working on a website and a calender, as well as a mixtape, so I am very busy. I am constantly juggling different projects at once. I am NOT HERE TO DATE!,I know alot of you DO not believe me based on the various gifts and trips you have offered{lol} BUT I appreciate all my friends, and I believe in friendship besides networking. I am represented by a modeling agency here in NY which keeps me busy, as well as working on my music and assisting other artists in the process. I enjoy moving around a bit, and I am never in one place, I am a traveler, due to my lifestyle! I do alot of non-profit work and work with various charities, and foundations. I also like real estate and investing so I guess you can say I have many interests and I live life to the fullest extent!
