In a hip-hop industry filled with overused pop tunes and often duplicated production tracks, comes a young man who has decided to grab the torch and accept responsibility to put creativity and originality back in music. The art form of hip-hop is moving forward and the tradition of the creators is back. For those that stay thirsty for raw, hard hitting beats laced with melodic grooves, DJ WIZDOM (DJ Wiz) is here to quench that desire.With over 15 years in the music game, DJ Wiz has incorporated his down south style along with an underground hip-hop influence. “I was introduced to the essence of hip-hop through my two cousins from NYC and been listening to music as far back as I can remember.”DJ Wiz acquired his lust for beats from his parent's vast record collection and became a part of the hip-hop culture during his break dancing days as a teen in Walterboro, S.C. . Like most producers, Wiz started cutting on any record player he could find and quickly became the neighborhood party DJ. “I started deejaying at nightclubs before I was old enough to get my drivers permit and my thing was to always mix underground, non-commercial records with popular songs, giving me a unique sound for the party scene in my area.”Arriving in Charlotte, NC for undergraduate studies at Johnson C Smith University led him to more nightclubs, more exposure, and most importantly to the people that would help shape and eventually become the Nasty Fruit Production family. Upon obtaining his own production equipment, Wiz began to develop his own sound using the SP1200 drum machine.As a producer, DJ Wiz has built up a strong resume and has become one of the hottest production talents in the South. His work has garnered attention from national acts such as Mic Geronimo (“The Natural”), Canibus, Tru life, Anthony Hamilton and producers, Mike City (Carl Thomas and David Holister) and Mark Sparks (Salt N’ Pepa, Boys II Men and Da Fabulous Beat Brokas), who signed DJ Wiz to a multi year production Deal.
