General B (aka Jay from The Approach)

I am here for Networking

About Me

Hey folks. Thanks for checking out my page. (And hopefully you recognize my headline...from the very unheralded movie "Undercover Brother"). I got the name the General from some former band mates after a long night of rehearsal and ping pong...and sadly, no alcohol was involved! By day, I'm an editor for a publishing company. By night, I am a proud family man and bass player and singer for The Approach (yup, the band has changed YET YET again back to our original name). My man Reverend Mike Flash calls me "Headliner" now. I can dig it baby! I also play guitar and dabble a bit on drums.

My Interests

Family, my band, Philadelphia sports (yes, we are a tortured lot!)..

I'd like to meet:

Interesting peopleI edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)

Music:

Let me make this clear: I LOVE MUSIC! Playing and listening to music is what I love to do. I'd gladly play in the band for free (but don't tell our manager that!). I'm a Rush geek through and through and am a "new" fan by Rush standards, having been a fan only since 1990. King's X is truly great and for a while Dream Theater was one of my top 5's. Steely Dan, Steve Morse, and Eric Johnson all fall in my all-time favorites. There are some cool new bands out now, like Breaking Benjamin, Army of Anyone, The Darkness, and Disturbed.

Movies:

Where to begin. I appreciate good movies of any genre. I can watch The Last Samurai or Saving Private Ryan just as easily as I can put on Spinal Tap or The Naked Gun. Some of my favs, in no particular order: 40-Year-Old Virgin, Glory, Pulp Fiction, The Blues Brothers, 12 Angry Men, Inherit the Wind, The Princess Bride, any of the Naked Gun flicks, any Christopher Guest movie, Star Wars, I'm Gonna Get You Sucka...the list goes on and on.

Television:

First, TiVo is the best invention ever!!! Without it I probably wouldn't be able to watch anything. The Daily Show tops my list. Jon Stewart is smart and hilarious. And a new show that's got me cracking up is 'Lil Bush. The guy who does Bush is awesome and the show totally makes fun of all of the political types that deserve to be made fun of. Chappelle Show is pure genius...I miss that guy! South Park is just classic. The Soup is really funny (that's another show I'd constantly miss without the magic of TiVo). The fam and I watch House M.D.; they got me hooked it and now I love House's caustic and terse comments to his staff.

Books:

My reading is pretty varied. I read a lot of Ayn Rand in the past and I think she's one of the smartest and best writers of the last 100 years. Books I've read recently that are pretty cool are Freakonomics, The J Curve, and Crimes Against Logic (by Jamie Whyte). Another recently published book I like is Survival of the Sickest. It takes an evolutionary and genetic perspective to things like diseases and viruses. I know it sounds kind of funky but it was REALLY interesting.

Heroes:

Personally: My family, my kids, Ayn Rand, and those who live life to the fullest and have a sense of humor about it all. Musically: anyone who lets music truly fill their soul.
