Dumpster divers, barterers, curb surfers, underminers. The queer, the confused, the lovelorn and hopeless. Androgynous god[esse]s. People who are a lot like me, that believe in true love and magic to the death but know that therapy doesn't work, who leave napkin origami on the tables of pleasant waitstaff, invent secret codes and languages and societies, who enjoy the subtleties and outrageousness of life. Random and contemplative people. Irony personified. Artists. Musicians. Writers. Explorers. People with bizarre skills. Cabaret carnies, can I come with you? Glitter-bombers and glamour queens, people who would dress up in formal attire to waltz down the grocery aisles at ten at night, and let me wear my home made fairy wings for a walk in the park. Morbid ones who enjoy shocking people. Fuckers, wankers, bastards. Picnickers, thinkers, conspirators. If you ask "why not?" all the time, hello. Let's eat cake for breakfast and write on the walls, ourselves, each other. If you like the president, Bill O'Riley or Ann Coulter, I'm sorry. Just no. I also generally avoid people who do drugs, and if you smoke I won't date you.Let it be known that I don't add anyone unless they message me first, and I really am not interested in being 'just myspace' friends. This is more of a way to find and maintain real life stuff. If you want to maybe get a coffee someday, alright then.
yes please... just about anything, indie, garage, grunge, most types of metal, ska, classical, traditional asian/indian/native american/celtic/whatever, punk, rockabilly, swing, opera, big band, easy jazz, underground hiphop, some alternative country, salsa, reggae, industrial, techno, trance, psychobilly, drum&bass, and eclectic... the few genres i most consistently avoid are popular R&B and gangsta rap, gospel or anything religious, all the whiny emo, numetal and rap-metal bands who have nothing worth complaining about anyway. fusion jazz gives me a headache, pleasant elevator you're-on-hold muzak invokes an urge to kill, and unoriginal mass-produced commercially tainted pop crap disgusts me. unless it is done ironically. also, i do not care what you say, weird al is cool.
foreign films, cautionary tales of all calibers, indie movies, old cheesy movies, documentaries, things that make you talk about them afterwards... memento, run lola run, pulp fiction, hedwig and the angry inch!!!, nightmare before christmas, harold and maude!!!!, city of god, wallace and grommit!, Tromeo and juliet (not a spelling error), edward scissorhands, the addams family, trainspotting, the godfather, scarface, fear and loathing in las vegas, lost and delirious, but i'm a cheerleader, a clockwork orange, abbot and costello, anything with groucho marx, interview with a vampire, quills, falling down, back to the future series, goonies, some like it hot, shawn of the dead, requiem for a dream, donnie darko, the haunting, american psycho, rocky horror picture show, others that i can't think of
i try not to watch it too much, but if jerry springer is on, my dignity takes the backseat for a while. also, arrested development, aqua teen hunger force, real-life surgery shows, south park, adult swim, the simpsons, home decorating shows from time to time, and anything interesting on pbs. the daily show, because jon stewart kicks so much ass. oh yeah, i love roseanne too. and i am still sad the muppet show and freaks and geeks aren't on anymore.
lolita, grapes of wrath, memoirs of a geisha, the jungle, battle royale, the illustrated man, girl interrupted, joy luck club, fahrenheit 451, 1984, the hot zone, we have always lived in the castle, the haunting of hill house (a book that made me cry, wow) how-to manuals and various reference books. comic books! the genres are kind of like the movies category... anything that reflects human nature and the problems and interactions, like a little brain-fluid chemistry set experiment written down. i like depressing, intense or informative books, mostly. or intensely depressingly informative.
are not going to save me... i am
