The question isn't what makes a good song; the question is what makes a good song great. There isn't a set of rules that must be followed. Rules generate a sterile environment. Don’t get me wrong, this process is not entirely subjective. We have all experienced the cookie cutter crap that’s out there. Those individuals that “stood on the shoulders of giants†instead of taking a creative risk. I yearn for music that leaves me suspended in whatever I am doing and reaching for the volume.
