Check back to see updated appearance dates for Sean Kemp in 2009. 2008 was a busy year for this talented performer. Sean recently backed up Anne Murray during the Maritime leg of her tourl. He continues to perform with Lennie Gallant. Sean Kemp has been the principal violinist for multiple East Coast Music Award Winner and Juno Nominee, Lennie Gallant for more than four years.
2008 was also a busy year in the studio preparing sound tracks for television programs and National Film Board of Canada documentaries.
Following the October 2007 release of his debut CD Moscow Madness, Sean Kemp was quickly nominated for an East Coast Music Award in February 2008 for best instrumental album. A tour of Maritime venues and Ontario followed in the fall of 2007.
This highly regarded violinist has been featured on numerous albums including 2007 Juno Award Nominated "When we get there" by Lennie Gallant and 2006 Juno Award nominated "Boy-Cott-in-the-Industry" by Classified. Sean has performed at most of the major music festivals in North America. Most recently he appeared at the Stewart Park Festival near Ottawa and has performed to standing ovations at the Mariposa Folk Festival and Caterbury Folk Festival in Ontario and the Dead of Winter Festival in Halifax.
Influenced by styles and genres from around the world his music is extremely evocative with a sense of infinite space and profound intimacy. His playing and music have won critical acclaim.
Originally from London, England, Sean took up permanent residence in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2002. He started playing the violin at the age of six and went on to receive his musical training at the Royal College of Music in the UK. He later studied acting at the "State Institute of Cinematography", Moscow, Russia.
