Why do you have to be a nonconformist like everyone else?

About Me

About me. Well, quite a broad and complex idea to wrap your head around. Just what am I composed of? Let's see, I work, sleep, and play in Long Beach within a three block walking distance to the beach. How can I complain?! You won't see me in the middle of a crowd anywhere soaking up attention. I'm the bystander on the side trying to make sense of what the occurrances that I perceive are comprised of. I tend to attract all different kinds of people that love to talk to me wherever, mostly at 7-11's and grocery stores. I think I'm just not that intimidating, no matter how hard I try to be. I read vocariously, write almost as much, can't live without an iPod or clean boxers, and I think mandatory hand washing times should be instated to rid society of grubbing hands and germs. Ewww. I've never been in a fight, hold the door for people, and will listen to your idiosyncratic issues for long periods of time. I adore politcs, beaches, Hawaii, Time magazine, and hot sauce in everything. Of course I'm abbreviating myself, but feel free to ask.
Your Element Is Water
A bit of a contradiction, you can seem both lighthearted and serious.
That's because you're good at going with the flow - but you also are deep.
Highly intuitive, you tune in to people's emotions and moods easily.
You are able to tap into deep emotional connections and connect with others.
You prefer a smooth, harmonious life - but you can navigate your way around waves.
You have a knack for getting people to get along and making life a little more peaceful. What's Your Element?

My Interests

Penguins, writing in neat little composition books, black gel pens, drinking iced tea with vanilla soy milk, meditating, surfing, vegan fish tacos, "Napoleon Dynamite", Jack Kerouac, sandals (Reefs only, fyi) and hooded sweatshirts (without a hood, what's the point?), sleeping on the couch, how life works (it's my damn philosophy degree. makes me think a bit too much, which drives me crazy... in a good way), obsessive possesion of Chapstick at all times, the beach anywhere, 7-11 (THE American Dream), Trader Joe's, Rite-Aid, and writing in new composition books. I always carry a pen and paper for notes along with my iPod, love to discuss and dissect any and all dialogues, meeting new people I can share a good vibe with, and way too many more to list here...
You Belong in San Diego
Laid back and friendly, you were meant to live most of your life on the beach.
You usually think everything is "all good"... except when the weather dips under 60F.
You stay classy - especially when you're in Tijuana! Where Does Your Inner Californian Belong?

I'd like to meet:

Interesting and intelligent people who know the meaning of the word "alliteration", who are equally repulsed at the thought of someone using "conversate" as if it were an actual and legitimate word, and who can speall "a lot" as two words. I'm usually rather enthused and love talking to people of all types. These are of course the ideal/unrealistic people that only I could encounter in, er, certain mental states: Jack Kerouac, Peter Singer, Aldous Huxley, Andy Van Slyke, Bob Marley, Sylvia Plath, Salvador Dali, Hubert Selby Jr., William Burroughs, Vincent Van Gogh, Lisa Andersen, Darren Aronofsky, Immanuel Kant, John S. Mill, Karl Marx, Allen Ginsberg, and Jim Morrison...

Music:

Alkaline Trio, The Cure, Rancid are my favorites. Anything that makes me think or dance (disclaimer: I dance poorly I think, but whatevs...) is good. I love how music can completely change the ambiance of a situation or your mood almost instantly. I can be on the brink of tears while REM's "Everybody Hurts" plays on and then smile and chuckle to myself if "She Has a Girlfriend Now" starts up. Music is generally a more intellectual pursuit than, say, television. You have to make up your own pictures. (Ha, love ya...)
You Are a Punk Rocker!
When it comes to rock, you don't follow any rules
You know that rocking out is all about taking down the man
You've got an incredible stage presence and rock persona
You scare moms, make bad girls (or boys) swoon, and live life on the edge! What Kind of Rocker Are You?

Movies:

"Requiem for a Dream." There are no sufficient adjectives to explain the impact, merit, and significance of this film. - "Tarnation." This guy films his life from when he's 11 and pieces it all together when his mom od's on lithium. Nothing like it. - "Office Space." This is/was exactly my life for 60 hours a week for 2 wasted years. (Side note: DO NOT rent a car from Enterprise under any circumstance. You need a reason? I've got 1000's, just ask.) "Drop Dead Gorgeous" may just be the funniest movie I ever see. Do see, for your own sake. "March of the Penguins", "Chicken Run", "Pi", "Spun", and anything with Will Ferrell, Keira Knightley or Clea Duvall (drool).

Television:

Huh? No cable here. I could think of about 100 better things to spend $60/month on, like a subscription to the Root Beer of the Month club. Seriously.

Books:

"On the Road" (Jack Kerouac) - "Doors of Perception" (Aldous Huxley) - "Haunted" & anything else by him (Chuck Palahniuk) - "The Bell Jar" (Sylvia Plath) - "Leaves of Grass" (Walt Whitman) - "Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals" (Immanuel Kant) - "Requiem for a Dream" & "Last Exit to Brooklyn" (Hubert Selby Jr.) - "Walden Pond" (Henry D. Thoreau) and WAY too many to possibly list in any forum...

Heroes:

I don't like to put people on a pedastal too much. It takes away from the fact that we're simply humans with unique contributions to society at large. If I had to choose one though, it's Jack Kerouac. His writing and perspective regarding life is simply on such an incredible level, and he has had an such a huge impact on me, that I've literally never been the same since I picked up "On the Road."Immanuel Kant - I recognize my own thoughts in his works and only wish I could say and write them that damn well.
