About Me

I'm interested in everything. I think it makes me easy to get along with. I'm pretty laid back, and I'll try anything once.
I like to consider myself a jack-of-all-trades but I really just get bored easily. Professionally, I'm a scientist. It's a good fit. Basically, I do odd jobs that have never been attempted before and that nobody else wants. On a given work day that can include welding, calculus, climbing a 1200 ft smokestack, working with hazardous substances in a respirator (think spaceman suit), theoretical physics, soldering, circuit design, embedded programming, or simply hanging out in the desert or at a coal mine. Lately I've been doing international travel, too.
In my spare time I work on cars. It's less of a hobby and more of an obsession. I don't like big spoilers, obnoxious decals, neon lights, 20" rims, or any other automotive stupidity -- I like cars that are actually fast. I prefer Mustangs. They're cheap, easy to modify, and I already have three of 'em. At some point I'd like to build some other type of car, but for now I'll stick with what I have. I have a 1970 coupe, a 1988 LX (named "Project Ex" - it was my evil ex-girlfriend's), and a 1996 GT that I drive daily.
Aside from that, I like fixing things and seeing how they work. I enjoy long drives and road trips and I love to travel. I also like being outdoors (especially at night) and going to parks, hiking, and camping though I haven't gone in a few years. I go through intermittent periods of working out and eating healthy, and I'm studying Kung Fu.
I'm trying to have more of a social life. It's hard, though, since I'm never in town anymore. I have a really sarcastic sense of humor, but most people tell me I'm fun to be around.

My Interests

Fast cars, anything mechanical or electrical, Kung Fu, computer security

I'd like to meet:

YOU! Well, probably.

I've been burned by liars and people with hidden agendas in the past, so if you fall into either of those categories do us both a favor and leave me alone. I don't want a relationship (my last one was horrible) so I'm not thrilled about jumping into something like that, but I do like hanging out, meeting people, and making new friends.

Music:

I usually listen to loud and angry music or alternative, but I'm open to pretty much anything. Well, anything but country or rap. Favorites include Nine Inch Nails, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Rob Zombie, Korn, Metallica, Godsmack, Disturbed, KMFDM, Audioslave, Slipknot, Earshot, Stone Sour, Soundgarden, AFI, Marilyn Manson, Ministry, etc.

Movies:

Pulp Fiction, Snatch, Fight Club, Trainspotting, Better Off Dead, Big Fish, Gone in 60 Seconds, Mallrats, Clerks, Clerks II, Chasing Amy, Dogma, LOTR, Star Wars, Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, Kill Bill, and any really bad zombie movies

Television:

The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, South Park, and any other adult animated series. No anime, though.

Books:

I don't read as much as I should. I read philosophy, Greek classics, and older European works. I don't like most modern fiction books or anything with "for dummies" in the title.

Heroes:

Batman, Superman, Spider-man

Moving on

It's been a week, and I must say that things don't suck as badly as I thought they would.  She's back at work, but there's no awkward conversation or anything.  Instead of saying anything, I...

Yay!

I'm drunk again.  I have a lot of good friends who are more than willing to take me out to "deal with my problems" by ingesting copious amounts of alcohol.  I like it.  It's a good thin...

A little more info

I talked to her after work.  She's actually getting back together with him to give it another chance.  So...yeah.  This isn't temporary, there's no hope, she won't come back, and it's o...

Decisions, decisions

I've realized something about relationships.  Though it may not seem like it sometimes, they're completely voluntary.  Either party can leave at any time, no matter how long you've been toge...

So according to her, we're back together now.  I'm not sure about it all, though.  There's too much drama.  I also don't think I can trust her.  But we'll see. It's funny -- I fough...

I figured everything out

So I finally figured out what's going on, and it makes sense.  I'm strangely okay with things now...everything will work out somehow.  I'm not quite sure how or what the outcome will be, but...

Brain dump

I have a lot on my mind lately...mostly relationship crap.  Because that’s what relationships are: crap.  You build something with someone, you share so much, and then it all crumbles ...
