About Me
http://www.Pimp-Text.com/ - Pimp Text And so it came to pass that 32 years ago Kalvin Ellison was born in Cook County, Illinois. Mr. Ellison, an only child, was reared by two parents. The Ellisons moved their son, then only 4 years old, from the southside of Chicago to the land of hopelessness called Pembroke. Pembroke is a rural/ghetto town where the people do not dream of great things(that is, except for one resident, Kalvin). Kalvin lived in a mouse- infested shack. So, despite the public aid the family received during the early years of his life, young Kalvin was hard-put to fill with the staff of life the aching void that was his belly; or to hide his shameful nakedness with the hand-me-down clothes donated by loving and God-fearing neighbors. At the age of two, Kalvin began playing blues records on an old Hi-Fi. He developed an ear for music listening to the soulful sounds of B.B. King, Albert King, etc. Kalvin's first personally owned record was the Michael Jackson "Thriller" album, also an early influence. Always the prodigy, Kalvin began engineering radio broadcasts for his church at the age of 10. Without music lessons, Kalvin belted out chords and bass lines on the piano. Later, he played the saxophone and sang in the Junior and Senior High School choirs. It was not until Kalvin turned 16, when he received his calling to record music. At the age of 19, Kalvin completed a demo recording of songs called "Deeper In The Bush" and "Pro Life". "Deeper In The Bush" was an R&B slow jam with a sound like the group "Next" before "Next came out. "Deeper In The Bush" was in light rotation on WCOW, Old Westbury, NY; WKGC, Panama City, FL; KNON, Dallas, TX; KSJL, San Antonio, TX; and a couple of stations in Atlanta, GA. WCOW music director Devine said, "The track to your R&B joint was phat. When are you coming to New York?" WKGC music director Curtis Carter said, "It received 4 calls." Chicago's WGCI didn't air Mr. Ellison's songs due to their raw lyrics. WGCI's music director Donny Colon's assistant reviewed Ellison's songs and said, "Your lyrics are risque. But it was a good song. Keep in touch." A Dayton, Ohio radio programmer Marshetta Conley didn't air Kalvin's songs due to the raw lyrics but said she liked his sound. The song "Pro Life" aired on a television program on Chicago's Access Channel 21. Mr. Ellison is currently composing songs for his debut album. The Prime Minister of R&B, Kalvin Ellison, said about his upcoming project, "With the joints that's out now. I gotta come with something real nasty."
