About Me

Free Christmas Flash / Graphic MySpace Layout Editor MySpace Generators MySpace Comments MySpace Codes Icon CollagesI am blessed to be a stay at home mom of two wonderful boys Alex 16, and Danny 14. I graduated from McGavock High School in 1977. I worked at the Nashville Airport gift shop for over 10 years. I went to Middle Tennessee State University for a couple of years then Nashville Tech. I got a job with the State of Tennessee Comptroller's office for 10 years. I think it is funny when people ask me when I am going back to work. I do all the housework, all the yard work, laundry, cooking, shopping, bill paying, pet care, and taking the kids everywhere. That's pretty much a full time job.My dad had a stroke a few years ago, so my sister and I take care of him too. We do all of his shopping, clean his house, mow his yard, pay his bills, do his laundry, take him to the doctor, the dentist, take his dogs to the vet,and anything that needs doing. Who has time to "work"? Maybe I will go get a "real" job one of these days and people will quit worrying about me having nothing to do. ;o)I'm worried about my dad because I think he is getting Alzheimers. His mom (my grandmother)has it. She is 97 years old and lives with my aunt. This is a scary disease. Daddy still lives alone, but I live right down the street and go check on him almost every day.In my "spare" time I rescue animals and try to find them homes. There are so many homeless cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies. I get upset when people want there kids to see the "miracle of life" so they let their pets get pregnant. They need to watch animal planet. Or better yet, visit a humane shelter or pound and check out all the animals that will be put to sleep just because there are no homes for them. I have gotten 16 ferral (wild) cats spayed/neutered this summer in my neighborhood. There is one more to catch and spay. My neighbor has been feeding cats for over 20 years, but didn't know what to do about them breeding. Because of disease, coyotees, owls, dogs and mean neighbors, the numbers have been kept down. Hundreds have lived short horrible lives...but that is going to stop. With the adults neutered, there was another problem. There were several litters born this summer. Instead of letting them live the lives of their parents, or starve, be eaten, or what ever...I decided to catch and tame these little ones. So far I have saved 15...with 1 more to go. They all had fleas, worms, ear mites, upper respiratory problems, bladder infections...you name it. Once caught, they were easily tamed, treated by a vet and found wonderful homes. Did I say easily? Well, not really. It is hard work that takes time, money and patience. The hardest part of all is falling in love with them, and seeing them go and hoping they have a wonderful life. I know I can't keep them, and they all have a chance now. This makes me very happy. PLEASE spay and neuter your pets. ....

My Interests

I love animals...all kinds. I love the mountains of east Tennessee and North Carolina. I love horse back riding, working in the yard, going to yard sales and having yard sales. I love camping, hiking, walks along the beach, walking in the woods, going to the park, the zoo, and spending time with my boys. I love thrift shops, and antique stores. Buying and selling on Ebay is fun too! I love feeding the birds and watching them year round. December 8, 2006 I lost my beautiful cat, Meggy that I've had for almost 20 years. Having an animal put to sleep is a very hard decision, but one I knew I would have to make one day. When she quit eating, then drinking, I knew it was time. Meggy had diabetes and I gave her insulin shots for 4 years. It was hard at first, but she and I got used to it and she did very well. I miss her terribly, but know she had a good long life and she knew she was loved up to the end. I've had many cats, but none like my Meggy Sue. She was such a sweet girl. I now have 4 cats. Yellow came to our house one day when it was freezing cold, and she decided to stay. Tony, was a stray the boys found at the bus stop. (He followed them home) He is a cool cat. Skipper appeared in our boat last spring. She was only 3 weeks old and her mother, a wild stray in the neighborhood abandoned her. She is one spoilled little kitty! Jenny was number 12 out of 16 kittens I rescued. She refused to be tamed. I couldn't adopt her...who wants a kitten you can't pick up? I decided to keep her. She is a wild thing, that won't let me pick her up, but she will sit in my lap and purr for hours. I think she is blind in one eye and maybe a little brain dammaged from almost starving to death. Whatever her problems, she has a safe, warm home with me as long as she wants to stay here. My dog, Buddy was a skinny stray that came to us 9 years ago. We have one fish, and one African dwarf frog that Alex brought home from school 7 years ago. I also feed the wild birds, squirrels and the occasional possum, deer, skunks and raccoons that come into the yard. I love animals of all kinds.Spay and neuter your pets please!!!! Don't declaw! Be kind to all animals. Adopt a pet from a shelter. Why pay hundreds of dollars for "pure breed" animals? There are all kinds of pure breed rescues out there, and millions of animals that are "put down" just because no one wanted them. Shelter animals/strays make the best pets.Save The World - One Click At A Time!
