Any of the Apollo astronauts who went to the moon . . . and Parker Posey.
Bad Religion, Ramones, The Shins, Supersuckers, The Coral, Rancid, Swingin' Neckbreakers, Body Count, Metallica, True Love, Tiger Army, Belle and Sebastian, old Sabbath, Anthrax (especially "Sound of White Noise") and plenty of indie NJ and NY bands.
The Station Agent, Box of Moonlight, Apollo 13, Fear of a Black Hat, Bubba Ho-tep, any Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy movie (Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, A Mighty Wind), Requiem for a Dream, Office Space, Dr. Strangelove, Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Specials, Shaun of the Dead, Ed Wood, Dill Scallion, Cool Hand Luke, To Kill a Mockingbird, Snatch, Once Were Warriors, and lots of foreign and indie stuff.
My all time favorites, NYPD Blue, The Odd Couple, and the Honeymooners. Old Simpsons, Family Guy, The Shield, Rescue Me, Scrubs, The Office (both the original and US versions), Spaced, Monk (Tony Shaloub is great), Boston Legal, My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, Corner Gas (brilliantly dry humor), Arrested Development (one of the few original comedies), and Andy Richter Controls the Universe (another show canceled way too early).
I don't make much time for pleasure reading, but when I do, I tend to go for non-fiction, usually either a biography of someone I find interesting, true crime stories, or some sort of political/social/humor commentary (I love Dave Barry). Lately it's been mostly books by the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo era astronauts. When it comes to fiction, To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my all time favorites. Robert Kaplow's stuff (he's a friend of a friend) is very entertaining - Me and Orson Welles is looking pretty likely to come out as a movie.
