I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Kind of schizophrenic. My aka covers all my creative stuff, otherwise I am in Marketing and general Business stuff. ************************************************************ ******************** Saffron (aka Phillippa Sauterel) has recently crossed the divide between poetry and music, and performs now as a singer/songwriter, even sometimes in French!Saffron the singer has performed many times at Tony's Bar and at The Village Cafe, as well as at the French Music Festival at the Alliance Francaise. On TVJ during World Cup Finals 2006 in French. As a poet she has published with the Calabash Trust (Soft Flesh) and performed in their 2002 festival, and several times at The Poetry Society of Jamaica. Has also appeared on Lyrically Speaking (TV Show on poetry). She has returned to Jamaica after over 15 years in Europe. Her "city hippy" style combines many rock, folk and Irish influences, and her originals go from protest to love and spirituality and to just plain fun. /////////"She has a unique voice, especially in a Jamaican context, somewhat reminiscent of folk singer Joni Mitchell, its nuances and range providing a vocal experience outside of the norm, yet welcome despite that - or more likely, because of it..." Darren Khan, Observer.////////Saffron also paints, time permitting, on silks and porcelain. New collections every Winter season. CHECK OUT THIS SITE: http://www.myspace.com/63463801, these are my VILLAGE CAFE friends, big up Cherie, Mystic Urchin, now Julia. Go Deh, and thanks for making it a home for live music in Kingston. I got my MySpace Layout at HerMyspaceLayouts.com.

Music:

Nearly all types. Not really much into Classical though... I'm old and young enough to have lived and live through some of the greatest revolutions in music. Brought up on Beatles, Dylan, Stones, Baez, in a background of reggae, and went to the UK in the heart of the punk movement through New Wave, passing through Heavy Metal, Acid Jazz, World Music and just good sounds. Biggest influences were David Bowie, Blondie, Clash, U2, Kate Bush, Smiths, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Sheryl Crow, Cardigans, and a bag load of the Irish, from Boomtown Rats, to Sinead to Cranberries.

Movies:

Movies that make you think or laugh or feel melted inside. Sci-Fi positive, like Sphere, Matrix (ie. none of They're Coming To Eat You type). Gattaca, Farinelli, Vanilla Sky (ef with tha brain) and other intelligent flicks. Some chick flicks. Wallace & Gromit. Might I mention that I LOVE looking at Bruce Willis?

Television:

Not much now that Sex & City is gone, Six Feet Under is gone... Comedy always goes down well like Bill Maher, Carlos Mencia, Eddie Izzard, the fabulous always MONTY PYTHON crew (both TV and Film).

Books:

Secret Life of Plants, most offerings by Richard Bach, poetry all kinds, Rich Dad Poor Dad for reality check.

Heroes:

Shakyamuni Buddha, Nichiren Daishonin, Gandhi, Gorbachev (still), many others, anyone who upholds peace. President Bill Clinton (gotta add the first name just in case we get a President H. Clinton soon), Shari Daniels (who wanted Jamaican women to have a choice of how they gave birth, previously of Labour of Love).
