DJ. On Air Personality. Producer. An exceptionally talented media professional. Ryan has lived in Brooklyn, Kingston, New Jersey, Baltimore and Miami, has over fifteen years experience in the industry, and no one can question his versatility.
Ryan found his passion for music while still in high school, in somebody's basement spinning records at his first house party. Besides a few semesters as a Pre-Med student in college, he's pursued that passion ever since. He changed his major to Business and formed UPTOWN SOUNDS with some of his friends that were also DJs, and they went on to spin at homecoming events and parties on almost every college campus in Maryland, and at venues up and down the east coast.
His tone of voice opened other doors and he became highly sought after to host a variety of different events. Deciding to capitalize on his voice, he registered as a student at the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland. Prior to graduating in 2000, Ryan landed a job as a Production Assistant at Baltimores .. 1 radio station 92Q (WERQ 92.3 FM), where he became known as the voice between the music and won numerous production awards.
Ryan recognized the fact that both Hip-Hop and R&B are greatly influenced by Reggae/Dancehall music. Professionally intuitive and true to his roots, he began selecting at various venues as a way to get more Caribbean Flava on the radio. It was during this time that Ryan was dubbed RYAN THE LION the Reggae Specialist!
He was invited to join Konan of 92Qs Supreme Dream Team Mixers, spinning live on air and for some of the biggest parties at some of the hottest venues in Baltimore.
Ryan seized the opportunity to grow within the Radio industry and moved on to another Baltimore station, X105 as the Assistant Director of Creative Imaging.
After the station underwent a format change, Ryan relocated to the Magic City and now That Cat Ryan The Lion is hanging out with you weekends on the hottest station in South Florida for that Hip Hop R&B and Ol' Skool -Miami's 103.5 the BEAT.
