My reading list for 2006

My brief adventures in Mongolia a few years ago ---------- "At the age of 25 most people were finished. A whole goddamned nation of assholes driving automobiles, eating, having babies, doing everything in the worst way possible, like voting for the presidential candidate who reminded them most of themselves."-Charles Bukowski

I am a 28 year old male in search of direction, inspiration and the pleasure of building monuments to self. I graduated from the University of Stony Brook (part of the SUNY system) in 5/03 with a BA in Political Science. While enjoyed attending school I still think it was a waste of time.

8/19/07 UPDATE: On 10/1/07 I will be flying down to Buenos Aires to spend a few months backpacking through southern South America. I don't yet know what I will do when I return.

Politically I consider myself to be a Libertarian. I am fiscally conservative and pro civil liberties. I am still undecided about social programs, though I am inclined to say gut them and let the states handle them. I am anti-Bush and anti-"war on terror" (if only for strict matters of definition). I enjoy politics and love talking about it. Be not afraid if you harbor different political viewpoints.

I was born and raised Catholic. I attended Catholic High School (by choice -- for the academics). Accordingly I no longer consider myself Catholic. Matters of spirituality still confuse and trouble me, which is good. I do believe in some higher power, some "x", if you will. I don't believe in organized religion. I do recognize the good they can do but also the horrible things that can be done in their name. I am inherently untrusting of someone who attempts to put themselves between me and god, at their benefit. I do consider myself to be a person of faith. Faith is a topic that interests and captivates me. It is wrapped up in what I like about the catholic church: it's history and perseverance. It is also something that I believe can be separated from organized religion.

I like to travel whenever I can. To date I have visited 7 foreign countries and about 46 states. This will be increasing in the near future. If you care to know the details, let me know.

I come to complete, full, stops at Stop Signs regardless of who is around or the time of day/night. I silently heap piles of scorn upon cars that come to a rolling stop or do not stop at all.

When on the express line at a supermarket I compulsively count the amount of items everyone else is buying. If I find someone with more than the posted limit I silently heap scorn and humiliation upon their person.

Like many of you I was adversely affected by the recent spat of Myspace outages. At first I had symptoms of disbelief that could only be quenched after I hit the refresh button about 20 times. Af...
