My Interests

Welcome to the official Marc Eric fan site!!! This is a place where Marc Eric fans can unite, share stories, comments, pics..whatever info you want about Marc and his band!

I'd like to meet:

As a freelance writer for several international entertainment publications, I have met many very cool signed and unsigned musicians/bands over the past 15 years. However, meeting Marc Eric, was and still is, one of the highlights of my journalist career!! As one of Marc's biggest fans, I decided to create this site for all the people who have listened, continue to listen, and provide inspiration for Marc to share a little bit of his soul and story with us. So, if you’re a fan, you’re a friend, so feel free to browse around the site, learn something you may not know about Marc, laugh at the stories, cry to the songs or jam along to some kick ass MP3 guitar solo’s!! I met Marc in the most unusual way. You probably already know it was a very surreal moment, but not for the reasons you might think....

It was just after midnight on a Saturday in Hollywood and I was heading home after seeing a few bands at a local dive bar on Sunset Strip. While walking back to my car I decided to take a shortcut and walked through the parking lot of one of the biggest nightclubs on Sunset Strip when I noticed a male figure sitting outside the dimly light back door entrance to the club. Something about this lone figure peaked my interest so I decided to walk over and say hi and maybe check out what was going on. As I got closer I started to get a better look at my parking lot companion, and as he came into focus what I saw was a really good looking, rock and roll type guy sitting on top of an upside down bucket!? Immediately I had him pegged as the usual “bad boy” musician...you know the type...ripped jeans, cool looking shirt, great rock and roll hair, bracelets, rings; all the accessories...With my curiosity at its peak and my lack of excitement for the evening getting the best of me, I suddenly found myself at a loss for words and was about to utter something that I would more than likely later regret, when I heard him utter a very softly spoken “hello".

At first I felt a little uncomfortable as I suddenly realized...here i was, completely alone, after midnight, in the back parking lot of a Sunset Strip night club, approaching a strange man sitting on an upside bucket...However, my fears were quickly put to rest as I noticed a very sexy, yet subtle smile come across his face and with genuine concern he asked if I wanted to have one of the bouncers of the club walk me to my car as he was concerned for my safety...! I mean, how often do you run into a guy like this!?!?! A really hot, really nice, mysterious guy who was not only polite, but a real gentleman??? To top it off, he had an ever so slight, southern drawl that made my ever so slight New York accent seem over powering, even to me. After what seemed to be no more than 5 minutes, he told me that he had to get back inside and that perhaps I might be interested in sticking around for “the show”. As my female mind raced to translate the various meanings of this rather simple statement, I remember thinking it really didn’t matter since, if nothing else, I might just end the night on a great musical note, and drown out the train wreck of music still looping through my head from earlier that evening. As I walked toward the front entrance of the club I felt a sense of relief as I noticed a rather large group of people still waiting in line outside the club, all fans of the evening’s last band/headlining act who was about to take the stage. Within a few minutes the band took the stage and as the first guitar note rang out from inside the club and the noise of the crowd responded, each and every one of us waiting in line knew we were missing something magical. However, it wasn’t until I heard the great vocals that I decided I would be getting into this club if it killed me.

This was one of those rare moments in live music…you know, when a musician/vocalist captivates the audience, not only by his stage presences or even musical ability, but through an actual connection he makes with the audience via his voice and instrument, leaving every single person in the crowd thinking “what the hell was that”. What I was hearing as I entered the club was incredibly musical and soulful...this guy had chops! His vocals had clarity, precision and soothing tone that can only be described as meaningful, even emotional. I knew I had little time to waste as I immediately worked my way right up to the front of the stage. Imagine my surprise when I finally got to the very front of the stage and looked up only to find my new friend Marc looking right back down at me as he struck the last chord on his guitar and sung the last note of the song...and at that exact moment, I knew he was something special.

Since that night I have become very good friends with Marc, even meeting his son Zach on more than one occasion. As a single father he has raised his son completely on his own, which to me says volumes about his character, personality and resourcefulness – all very rare qualities to find in a person, let alone a rock and roll musician. Marc’s a very well rounded person and this is ever so evident in the manner in which he conducts himself, his life, priorities and even his friendships. I have never known a more decent person – he’s the best-friend you had as a child – the one you could tell anything to, no matter how bad or “weird” it might have been. On the flip side, he’s also that totally eccentric best friend you had back in high school – the one who always seemed to shock you with the details of his past, but eventually putting your mind at ease by sharing some interesting perspective or lesson he learned as a result of his experiences.

Music:

What more can I say – every so often someone comes into your life who at the instant you meet them, you know your life will never be the same...ever. Don’t misunderstand - I don't want you to think this refers to some kind of romantic thing. True friendship is so very hard to encounter and so very easy to recognize. Marc’s true spirit is on display in each and every one of his songs. Truly a "creative soul" Marc's music tells his story to anyone and everyone who takes the time to listen.
