About Me

J. Smith's Story

Jared D. Smith was born and partially rased in Houston, Tx. He later moved with his mother to Dallas, where he discovered a passion for music. Although being a rapper now, Jared dis-liked hiphop at first, he saw it as a bunch of ppl saying nothing until later, when he freestyled to him self and made parody's of other songs on the radio. By doing so, he grew a great passion for hiphop and music in general. He started writting by the age of 13. He stuck with an allias he got a few years later, Snake. J was not serious or even thinking about making music a career , that is until he met his friend, Carlos "CJ" Gonzalez. They met in 9th grade and have been wrriting together since then. The first songs made by the duo were, "Rock & Roll", "Haters", "The south" & "Drive Slow Remix". Talking to each other about being famous and rich they both decided to make this a career and join the music race to the top. This is where CJ was not use to calling Jared Snake so he called him J, and thats how it became his rap name. CJ's Story

Carlos J. Gonzalez (Name was taken from his initials in his first and middle name) was born and raised in Dallas, Tx. CJ also started out the same way as Jared Smith, but the only difference was, he had a passion for all music at an early age. He also started writting parody's and his own songs in 6th grade. Never serious about making music into a life goal, until he met Jared Smith in 9th grade. Jared found out that CJ had a passion for music, just like him, and wanted Gonzalez to spit out a few bars, but CJ never did. He that nobody would like his rhymes because he was mexican. J did not care, after a while CJ finally spit some lines out and J liked what he heard and asked if CJ wanted to do some songs together, he agreed. Two years later, J showed Carlos how to make beats, and CJ grew a passion for making beats and has been at it since. This what Gonzalez has to say about Jared, "He has been there for me through alot, and he is like my music coach....i owe him alot for giving me a chance". Versatyle's Story

Jarret White a.k.a Versatyle (Name was created by his style of rap) was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. At the age of 1 he moved to Dallas, Tx. His father was a drummer for a band back in the day, so music was already within his family, but in Dallas is where he found something he did not expect to find. Having music in his blood already he saw and heard others rap and freestyle so verse would also join in and rhyme, but he did not get serious about it till the 10th grade. A few years back he met with Jared Smith at a church after performing in a play, here is where the both discovered that their names were not only similiar but so was their dedication to music. Vers freestyled for Jared and he liked the talent Vers obtained, so he also decided to make music with him as well. CJ was not introduced to Vers until the summer of 06. Vers was he newest addition to the NEW ERA family. Behind The Scenes NEW ERA started with just 2 members at first, J Smith and CJ. The name was made up by the two, seeing that they are going to be the music industries NEW ERA. Later Vers was added to the crew. CJ added 4 other people, Batman (Poetic Soulja), Rairay, C. Storms and Shannon, but two of them were later kicked out (C. Storms & Shannon H.). Then J introduced Anthony "Dice Domino" Polanco. He was doing good until some things happened and he removed him-self from the group and did his own thing. Batman (Poetic Soulja) introduced Abigail to the group and did a few songs with them. Rairay left the group in the fall of 07, due to an argument between him and CJ, but things are now better between them. Sydney was founded by Versatyle's younger sister, and the remaining members were amazed by the voice and dedication she had, and she became the newest member. Abigail was just recently removed due to the lack of contribution and dedication to music. Batman (Poetic Soulja) was removed, but offered a deal to remain under the label, but he denied that and we respect his decision. Even though we have been through alot, we still love yall and respect each and every single one of yall. We wish you nothing but the best, thank you for everything. This is the story of NEW ERA, Thank you to the fans for your support in the movement. NEW ERA WE ARE BACK!
