About Me

."If it were a howling wolf, shouting in your ear, it would sound like music..."
Living in the shadow of Bobbejaanland and the great Bobbejaan (South-African for baboon, not joking) Schoepen, we obviously got the hang of drinking songs, the art of whistling and dutchpop/country about pigeons and the "Schelde". But since it appeared to be impossible to exceed his (and the Hukkelfukkers' -we love you guys!) succes, we decided to walk another road...
In 2006 we seeked for eternal fame in a music competition for youngsters, but failed ingloriously. We gave up.
By the autumn new ambition had arrived, while some people (piano and flute) left, fresh blood turned the whining pop into something special. Phil and Miet had arrived.
Being experiences practitioners of "muddling through", we did so until spring '07. Another competition, Music Live, brought us to the semi-finals and therefore the first regained self confidence. Since the summer, MotR is performing regularly, may it be replaced by "often" soon.
September 2007, a glorious moment: Famke occasionally replaced Miet. And did it so well that she was forced to join us. Now we have a real copper section (musically and physically speaking). Enlightening our existence with giggling, getting rid of saliva and mostly extremely catchy and two-voiced (tonal or -intensionally!!!- atonal) riffs.
Octobre 2007, a sad, sad moment: PJ -calf!- left us :(. LUV U 4-evah! Lucky side effect was Ruben appearing on the scene. He might have the strangest style we've ever seen -silly bass players, all the same, I tell you!-, but it sounds pretty amazing and he makes our rehearsals a little more cheerful and a whole lot longer :).
The list of run-aways does not stop. But we refuse to think it has anything to do with the despotic way this band is ruled. Miet is gone. There's no use in mourning too long... So after a month, in which we only wore black, someone sneaked in by the backdoor. The Euphonium Man pulls us further into the rough waters of drifting melodies.
In the meantime lots of nice people, friends, talented players have joined us for an occasion, jamsession, gig, anything. --Iedereen in een straal van 50km die zich in een der categorieën thuis voelt, is steeds welkom.--
Generally you might say we evolved from a poppy piano/flute-based bunch to a band that calls its music "jazzrock with some folk influences and a slice of latin". Our only strenght: the power of enthusiasm. Floating between tight and intimate, Balkan and Cuba, chaos and creation (mostly chaos), Beatle rip-offs and jazz balads. Come and see.
