Groovepact is a quintet of young musicians that brings jazz influenced by bebop, free jazz and modal jazz.
Their repertoire consists of tunes by Wayne Shorter, John Scofield, Ornette Coleman,… and originals by the members of the group.
Groovepact started off as a quartet with Dieter(sax), Jakob(drums), Jesse(guitar) and Lennart(el.bass). After a year of rehearsing and some small shows Kem(vibes), Lennarts cousin, joined to add some vibes to the group. With this new formation we had the chance to do some more nice gigs and we also started a project with 5 dancers, called “Versusâ€. After a while Jesse decided to leave because he was more interested in playing rock.
At the Conservatory of Antwerp Kem met a piano player named Lieven and asked him to join Groovepact, Lennart also switched over to acoustic bass to give the group a more acoustic sound. Now they’re currently in a definitive form and eager to get their music to the people.
