"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." ~Thomas Edison
"All our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them." ~Walt DisneyI'd like to think that Disney and Edison were on par with the idea that if you want something really bad, then you'll do anything to make it happen. There are many instances in our lives where this truly plays out in ways that can make the odds look staggering at achieving a certain task, especially if the task requires lots of patience or personal acceptance of situations at hands. Some decisions we make in life may not be the best, even if they are obviously wrong, but fortunately, or unfortunately, we have the gift of hindsight. Should we ever become predisposed to making a similar situational choice, hopefully we can make the right ones, however, sometimes these choices lay beyond the grips of our extended hands and all we have left is that hope that whatever we are reaching for reaches back... Is that luck? is that fate? Perhaps, as we get older, and wiser, maybe just old, we long for things that could have been, should have been, were not to be and we have to accept whatever, or wherever, we are. This poses the dilemma of knowing that we tried our hardest but either succeeded and are satisfied, or failed and have the courage to move on. Of course we will never know what could have been had we not persisted a life long journey for a failed cause, then again maybe that persistence is what defines who we truly are. March 17 2007
