Memorial Day Veterans Honors Playlist
The entire playlist is just a tad over 33 minutes.
I created this playlist to honor all the service and sacarfices of veterans from all our wars. The songs on the playlist were carefully selected to bring back memories for those still with us. Many of your family, friends and loved one will remember most if not all of these songs with at least a tear of fondness. I would expect that one can not get thru the entire playlist without a tear. I certinly didn't.
The songs on the playlist are listed below. I downloaded them from the USAir Force Band where you can find more of their music for free downloads. I had the honor of leading a Flight Passing in Review ("marching" for those that have not be in the service) to the US Air Force Band while at Keesler AFB, Miss. That was truly an experience.
I included one song that brought back some of the good memories. Part of the morning of my first Sunday in the US Air Force was spend in my first open air church, nothing more that a set of bleachers in an open field. The main song for the service was The Battle Hymn of the Republic. Years ago, I had always thought that the song was a Southern song and never understood it's Northern roots. The song on the playlist is a narrated history of The Battle Hymn of the Republic by CMSgt (Ret.) Floyd Werle. Well worth listing to as well as sharing with friends.
Taps is a standard bugule call that is played daily in many of our National Cemetaries to honor our fallen veterans. Many people do not know that Taps has words. I have included the words to Taps under the media player. Retreat brings the day to rest for most servicemen so I used it to end the playlist.
