SALSA PARA EL BAILADOR!!

About Me

This profile was created as a sole inspiration from my friend SALSA DJ FRANK
The roots of this recording came about 1996 when I had this idea of transforming Colombian music that I was raised with and make it into Salsa. My goal was to transform the happiness that Colombian music portrayed into the music from my homeland Puerto Rico.
But at at the same time, I wanted to do a Homage to Colombia for all the support that I saw over the years when I spent my summers as a child when I heard everywhere the music of Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz and El Gran Combo played everywhere I went.
Around 1997, I tried to make this recording with someone that had a very small label and I waited until about a year to start recording until the label owner couldnt do it or backed out, and I went through a deppression for several months.
From the ashes, I started saving money to do the DEMO of which 3 songs came about on the final cd AMANECIENDO, SOY COLOMBIANO and EL CANTOR DE FONSECA.
I recruited SAMMY SALINAS on vocals, being that we had worked on several local bands and his vocal caliber suited perfectly what I wanted to do.
Until about 1999, I recall I finally got to do the DEMO and had a connection in Colombia who helped me get signed in 2001 with Fonovisa. I'll sound funny, but the songs on the demo that you can hear finalized here had a certain kind o magic. An aura of their own and honestly speaking I wasn't surprised of being signed after 3 months of shopping the demo around several labels.
Unfortunately for me, Fonovisa was bought out by Univision, so in less than 3 months of release, was archived and hasn't seen the light of day since then.
This recording originally titled SALSA PA TODO EL MUNDO was originally released on Aug 8, 2001 under Fonovisa Records. Now is in the hands of the hardcore salsero to spread the word about this recording.
This page is a tribute to all of you who supported this proyect.
