Established in 1936, the Grand Caillou Volunteer Fireman Organization was put in place to assist the Grand Caillou Fire Dept. The organization consist of members of the public. We are currently 40 members strong and growing. Seven of those members are currently certified First Responders. The organization is ran by a five member board consisting as follows: President - Marty Pellegrin, Vice President - Ronnie Naquin, Secretary - Peggy Ledet, Treasurer - Carol Duplantis and Seargent of Arms - Glynn Dean. We are currently a non-profit organization and are funded strictly by donations and fundraisers that are held thru out the year. Our goal is to save lives and property. Whether it be in a fire, medical or any type of life threatening situation we are there to assist. If you wish to join the organization and become a volunteer firefighter, by all means come sign up. We hold our regular meetings every first Tuesday of the month.

Help me embrace a little child... Before it is to late... Or save an older person from... The horror of that fate... Enable me to be alert... And hear the weakest shout... And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out... I want to fill my calling and... To give the best in me... To guard my every neighbor and protect his property... And if according to your will... I have to give my life... Please bless with your protecting hand... MY CHILDREN AND MY WIFE.--Author Unknown

I'd like to meet:

WHAT IS A PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTER? The mere fact that you are a firefighter - paid, industrial or institutional in no way Makes you a professional. You become a professional firefighter only when you exhibit the Knowledge, attitude, skill, and habits that have been honed to the highest degree of education, Training, experiences, and Love for your profession. The Example and conduct you display at the scene will always be the only yardstick by which your peers and the people you serve can judge you and the organization you represent. That judgement will form the opinion of each and every person with you and your Organization, and that judgement will precede you in the form of your reputation as a"PROFESSIONAL"
