When I try to tell them they think I'm telling lies- Maya Angelou

About Me

I am a mother, wife, friend, singer and entrepreneur. I Love music!!!! I love creative expression!!!! I don't like self righteous or judgmental people! I think I'm pretty open minded or at least I try to be. I think everyone should be allowed to do what makes them happy as long as they are not hurting other people. I want to try to leave this earth better than I found it especially now that I have children. I consider myself a citizen of the world. I believe that this world was created for all of us so why confine yourself to just one part of it. My goal is to set foot on every continent before I die. Hopefully I'll live a long life : ). My dad's side of the family is from Trinidad, Barbados and Venezuela and my mom is African American. So am I. I love West Indian food! I also love Ethiopian food and sushi. If you're ever in Atlanta and you can handle really spicy food go to California Mart on Cheshire Bridge rd. and order the Tips it's delicious but hot is an understatement. I love to bake!! Someday I want to open up a bakery with a few tables where people can sit and have coffee and eat my creations of course!: ) Right now I am trying to get a band together so that I can record a jazz cd. I'm not trying to get rich or famous I just know I can sing and I want my children to know that I lived every dream that I was passionate about so that they can do the same. Plus I occasionally perform and afterwards people always ask if I have any Cd's for sale. I love the poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou! Not because I'm conceited but because I think every woman regardless of size, shape, race, complexion, eye color, or social status should feel that way about herself. I am also starting a non-profit for under-priveledged women and children so I'm pretty busy. I'm not big on materialism. My favorite car is a Volvo because it's safe. Oh, but I wouldn't mind owning a convertible 59 Impala ; ) I am a Target fanatic because they make it affordable to make your surroundings beautiful without breaking the bank. And their clothes are really cute too! I think it's important for people to be able to live well even if they aren't rolling in the dough. Anyway in the words of Porky Pig "That's all Folks" Well not really but that's all for now.

Especially the poems "The Toad and the Kangaroo" and "Nobody". Above all others We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will be Killed With Our Families: Stories from Rwanda by Philip Gourevitch

Heroes:

All of the women in my family because they have shown me what it means to be strong especially my mother because she has taught me from the beginning that I am a citizen of the world and injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. She's still an activist to this day. I hope I'm just like her in my old age :). My Husband because he does everything he can to make our family work. He loves his children, and he is an active participant in our life together. He's flexible, patient, imaginative, ambitious, intelligent, funny, fun, spontaneous and practical and that's a tough combination. I consider myself very lucky!!! Last but not least my children because they taught me how to love unconditionally.
