TURTLE ISLAND

Turtle Island, formed in 1999. It was Yoshiki the former vocalist of “Order”, a well known punk band form the biggest motor city in Japan “Toyota City”, came up with a totally new idea of combining hardcore punk style music with a traditional Japanese carnival beats(Ohayashi) and various style of world music.He called up his old school mates, Tsuzuki for Tabla and Ko for banging bass dram, and that was the original line up of the band.As they playing shows in their home town Toyota, gradually their local friends join the band, Include the drummer from the world famous Japanese fast core band “Nice view” Taro the Tornado and from a local crusty punk band “Isolation”Takemai the female vocalist and Bunta the guitarist and etc. By 2002 when the band became a 13 piece orchestra, they recorded their first full length album” Shinkai no mizu no youni".After the release and tours, they had a few member changes, and by 2004 the former member of a renowned Japanese post rock / Emo band “Naht” guitarist George, local hardcore band ”Fragment” guitarist Shuji, also a local R&R band “Screaming the knucklehead” drummer Yama joined the band and they recoded one song for a comp album “kurui-zaki meets revolution” (released from Jukeboxx recored & meets revolution)and their 2nd full length album “Madara de Odore”. This album was recorded live by the mountain side of thire home town, and it sold over 3000copies in a total DIY distribution through out the shows and indie punk record stores.By 2006, Koichro the bassist from “Nice view” joins the band and this became the current line up of the orchestra right now. In 2007, they started their own label “Micro Action”, and they will be touring and recording through out the year. They have released their 3rd new full lenghth album"Self Navigation CD" in September 2007. And thire first live tour DVD "Self Navigation DVD" is also released through out Micro Action and Disk Union Distribution Japan.
