I was born and raised in New York City, but my parents are from Puerto Rico--the oldest remaining colony of the United States. Puerto Rico was also the United States' largest colonial possession until the bloody occupation of Iraq in 2003.
The Iraqis are fighting hard against the colonizers. As an oppressed minority, a class-conscious worker, and a communist revolutionary, I support the Iraqi's resistance against their foreign occupiers!

"Revolutionists Seize Petrograd; Kerensky Flees," was the headline of the NY Times on November 8th, 1917, one day after the Russian Revolution in which Lenin and Trotsky's Bolshevik Party led the Russian workers to establishing the first workers republic in history.
Kerensky headed the provisional (capitalist) government that had been in a state of "dual power," having to share political power, with the powerful soviets (soviets is Russian for councils) that had sprung up all over Russia. The situation of "dual power" ended November 7th, 1917 when the soviets under leadership of the Bolshevik Party began to seize full power across Russia, forcing Kerensky to flee to the United States, basion of world imperialism.
