Reading LOTS of books that are meant for people far younger than me (eg His Dark Materials, Mortal Engines and The Doomspell trilogy) Watching VAST amounts of film (when I should be doing something more constructive!) Singing (mainly old swing and jazz) Writing children's books and ATTEMPTING to illustrate them. Cooking and eating vegan food.
Edward Rochester (yes I KNOW he's a literary character but a girl can dream can't she?!) David Tennant (for all the usual reasons and many more besides!) Philip Pullman (so I can give him a hug to say thankyou for His Dark Materials)..!
Eclectic taste (that doesn't include hip hop or RnB). Especially listen to film score (James Newton Howard and Thomas Newman etc) jazz and swing, Rufus and martha Wainwright, ISAN and LOTS of other strong songwriting talent.
Oooo it's always a hard one! SO tricky to pick favourites (it changes all the time). Perrenial faves include Amelie, Memento, Shaun of the Dead, Napoleon Dynamite, My Neighbour Totoro, Lost in Translation etc etc etc........
Doctor Who (but only really the last two series) Lost (WHY did I ever allow myself to get sucked into it? I'm too far in now I can't give up!!) ANY period drama by the beeb (including the fantastic Jane Eyre adaptation currently showing on Sundays!)
Jane Eyre, His Dark Materials, The Wind on Fire Trilogy, HP, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime and LOTS of picture books (including Meerkat Mail, Slow Loris, Diary of a Wombat etc)
Heroism is very subjective. I see heroism in every compassionate and selfless act. Kindness to all living things and a desire to live without causing pain and suffering to others can be just as heroic as a fireman rescuing someone from a burning building. ..
