Biography
deadman began its existence at the end of 2000. The band was formed by the members of two bands that had recently ceased to exist - Mako, aie and Yukino had previously played together in Kein, and Toki came to deadman from Lamiel. The group's members had known each other for a long time - aie used to play in Lamiel, and so did Kein's ex-guitarist, Ruka. In a way, Lamiel supplied Kein with musicians. Ruka, who was a guitarist in Lamiel, joined Kein as a bassist. After he left the band, his place was taken over by aie, and only Toki was missing from the line up of what was to become deadman.The only musician who was not previously friends with the others was Mako. Despite his undeniable vocal talent, he didn't plan to become a musician at first. He has always been interested in acting, and he had even started studying in that direction. Unfortunatelly, his studies disappointed him, as he realised he wouldn't always be able to play exactly the roles he would like to play. He dropped the studies and... became a roadie for Merry go round. He would probably never become the vocalist of Kein, if Reo, the future Kein leader, had not received Mako's telephone number from a mutual friend, who called him, and later on asked to join the band.After some time however, the differences between their characters began to surface, arguments were becoming more and more common. Finally, Reo left the band and joined the newly created Gullet, and Mako, aie and Yukino formed deadman. Kein's drummer, Hibiki, decided to join Blast - a group formed by the remaining ex-Lamiel members, but deadman was completed by the ex-Lamiel drummer, Toki. As you can see, the connections between these two groups are quite strong.deadman's first concert took place on January 6th, 2001, and on March 20th, they played their first one-man live concert. Their first single, entitled 'Subliminal effect', came out on April 25th, and it was around that time that Yukino left the band to join Gullet. His place was taken over by Takamasa, an ex-member of Lady.In May deadman toured together with MUCC. Their second single, 'In media', was released on April 20th, and November 1st witnessed the relase of their first album, 'Site of Scaffold'. In February 2002, during the tour, Takamasa was finally proclaimed an official member.From April to May deadman toured together with Blast, promoting their collaboration single, 'Hirusagari no Jekyll to Hyde', and they also played together with Jinkaku radio and Fatima.From June to September, they played 4 gigs with four other bands, Merry, Nightmare, D'espairs Ray and Nookicky. These concerts were planned by the band's leader, aie, who was driven by a different reason in each case. They played with Nightmare because aie is friends with them; Nookicky - because he wanted to play with a band totally different from deadman, even though he didn't really know the type of music Nookicky played. As for Merry, aie thought that sort of an event could be interesting for the fans, and he also decided to play with D'espairsRay because the two bands had already played together on a bigger event and he thought they could play together again, even though they were not really close friends.In March 2003, deadman released a second album, entitled 'No alternative'. According to the band it is an alternative to the contemporary music. On October 11th their next single, 'Amefuri to Himawari', came out, and on December 28th the band performed at Beauti Fool's fest '03. Because of that, Mako was for the first time featured on a magazine cover, even if only in the company of several other vocalists participating in the event. 'Kafuka', their next single, was sold during the gigs in January and February 2004, and still in February they also played another concert together with D'espairsRay.In March they organised a gig only for the members of their fanclub, and the next month witnessed the release of their another mini-album, '701125, featuring one new song and a few older ones arranged anew. Between April and May they performed on a tour entitled 'desert house'. When questioned about the name, Mako replied people are like sand that is very easy to disperse and scatter. In October they relased a maxi-single called ' °C', which conatined deadmans first video.In march 2005 they released a single, and in the next month a DVD containing two clips for the songs from that single was sold during their concerts. That same month witnessed the release of a new mini-album, which was later re-released in June. Also in April Takamasa suddenly decided to leave the band. His reasons were that he was moving into a completely new direction, possibly moving away from the music industry altogether. It didn't take long for them to find a new bassist, and in July Kazuya joined the group. Before the end of the year they managed to produce their second full lenght album, In the direction of sunrise and night light.In January 2006 the band played in Europe for the first time, performing in Germany and France. As it turned out soon after, these were one of their last concerts. In March deadman announced a break in activity, preceded by a last tour in May. Whether it really is a break or a definite end of the band - time shall tell.

*January 2001: deadman, a Nagoya based visual rock band is formed. It starts out as Mako (ex-kein) on vocals, Yukino (ex-kein) on bass, aie (ex-kein, ex-lamiel) on guitar, and Toki (ex-lamiel) on drums. On January 6th they are the opening act at the Nagoya Diamond Hall "New Flavor" Live.*March 20, 2001: First One-man at Nagoya E.L.L. deadman has had many performances since March, but mostly appear in Nagoya and only occasionally have lives in Tokyo.*April 25th, 2001: First cd single "Subliminal Effect" is released*End of April 2001: Yukino announces he is leaving the band because of musical differences. Since then, deadman has been using a session bassist.*August 20, 2001: they release their 2nd single, "in media."*November 2001: Takamasa (ex.LADY) joins deadman as their bassist.*November 21 2001: deadman releases their first album called "Site of Scaffold" on 11/21.*February 2002: Start of "deadman tell no Tales" Tour.*April-May 2002: Open fanclub "Starfucker". deadman/Blast "Hirusagari no Jekyll to Hyde" Tour and release the coupling tour cd.*June - September: 2-band tours with Merry, Nightmare, DespairsRay & Nookicky. A demo tape is being offered at these lives.*July 27, 2002: Regular press of "Hirusagari no Jekyll to Hyde" coupling tour cd goes on sale.*March-April 2003 - [Dark] Tour*March 8, 2003 - [no alternative] 14 track cd is released*April 2003 - [No Alternative] Oneman Tour. 3 song cd distributed at lives.*October 2003 - [Amefuri No Himawari] Oneman Tour. 3 track cd single released.*January 2004 - release of kafuka live only Cd*April 2004 - [desert house] tour and release of [701125] mini-album.*August 2004 - [Taping of Degreeds Centigrade] Video*October 2004 - Release of ..ºC.. CD single and degreeds centigrade video.*March 2005 - release of cd single Seija no Koushin. Oneman Tour [Misery Loves Company].*April 2005 - Release of dvd at lives on the 1st, 4th and the 6th. Takamasa leaves the band on the 6th.*July 2005 - Kazuya joins as a support Bassist during a [Fuzz] Event. He later becomes the Oofficial Bassist.*December 2005 - Release of full album [In The Direction of Sunrise and Night Light]*March 2006 - deadman announces that they will stop activity. Their Last Live was on May 23, 2006.
