About The Frets
A lot has happened in two years for Brisbane Pop/Rock band The Frets. Since their humble beginnings as singer/songwriters, the five piece have grown from strength to strength gaining a legion of fans with every show they play. Travelling up and down the east coast circuit of Australia, the band have supported the likes of Juke Kartel, The Galvatrons and were handpicked to play numerous fashion industry shows in Sydney.
With their sound ever evolving from a more youthful garage rock, the band have embraced their pop side and aren’t afraid to show it. This newfound evolution has seen them catch the attention of music industry heavyweight Hayden Bell (The Veronicas, Savage Garden). In early 2009 under his guidance, the band set off on a globetrotting trip, writing and collecting songs for their debut album. The trip has taken them to London, Sweden and more recently Los Angeles.
Recently the band has been working with music legends such as Jeff Barry (Phil Spector, The Monkees), Charlie Midnight (Joni Mitchell, Joe Cocker, James Brown), Derek Bramble (David Bowie) to young producer/writers such as Tim Myers (One Republic), Vision (Chris Young) and Klaus Derendorf (Carlos Santana, Josh Groban).
Garnering much praise for their work in Europe and the US, The Frets are gearing up for another writing trip and will head into the studio to begin work on their much awaited debut in late 2009.
