About Me

My Mama was a big band singer, the love of my life, and she influenced me greatly. I started playing drums at age 4 and have had a life long love affair with hearing and making music. I currently play with local rockers NrG Krysys, Cashmere Junglelords and Poly as well as freelancing jazz gigs and touring with Van Cliburn medalist Mac Frampton, based in Atlanta, as well as the Hollywood Hills Orchestra and the 3 Penny Symphony with Cecil Welch. Mac and I are currently celebrating 20 years of playing and touring in 2007! I also hold a commitment to my neighborhood and community and serve as executive director of Oregon Hill Home Improvement Council. We are a non profit (501c3) Community Development Corporation and have been building affordable workforce housing since 1973. Please see http://www.ohhic.com for details- we would love to help you any way possible! 2007 also marks my 30th anniversary as a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 123 and my 19th anniversary as a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. In my spare time I own and run a full service music store named Candyland Music and am on the musical staff of the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Dance and Choreography. My hobbies are laughing, historic preservation, restoration and tinkering with my antique motorcycles and cars. I am involved with Richmond Parks and hold a position on the Monroe Park Advisory Council. The City of Richmond presented me with the Jesse Reynolds Award for Community Mobilization in 2005. I belong to the Sierra Club, ACLU, PETA and the American Lung Association.
