About Me

Now playing: Cuttin P
(I'ma speak about myself in third person [just to be different])
Alanson K. Nauden aka Cuttin P was born November 2, 1983. As he grew up,he developed a bad outlook on expressing oneself through writings. He hated to write and had a strong dislike for poetry. However, at the age of 14 he started to need a way to express himself because his anger within him had reached an alarming state. He became violent and disruptive and became very morbid. Until, one day he met this girl by the name of Jackie who showed him some of her poetry. As he read he felt a release of some of the tension inside of him. Days later, he decided to write something his self and slowing healed his own wounds. Thus Cuttin P was born.
As for the group the Dynasty itself, it started with 3 people. Cuttin P , Kaine, and Don Mecca. These three would go on to search for the best and most diversed talent with their high school. They picked up various artists like Black Bull (aka Southside Sonata) Quasar (Quay), Prodigy(the 1st lady), One, Kaori(Joy), MPH, Baby Girl,(Both of which form Dinamik) Janer (Starchyde), C-Killa (Jacque), JT-Reed, Eclipz, Ceaser, Mikkisha, and a few others. Each specializing in their own style. However, Cuttin P developed a intense hunger for compeition and soon began battling at the age of 16 and expanded to the net at 17. Through many ups and downs the Dynasty still exist and will exist for years and trials to come.
(okay apart from the poetic side) I'm a cool person who's always down to help someone whenever I can. I'm a good listener... really I am. No matter how graphic you may get with venting to me... I won't judge you nor tell what you tell me... my word is my honor. Cause without that then my poetry means nothing...
Introspect.com 2nd Audio Battle Tourny Champion's Interview Champion: Cuttin P
Khaotic Kitten: Can you give me a little bit about your background? Where are you from and how did you become interested in writing?
Cuttin P: I'm 23 Scorpio born on November 2nd 1983. (80's babies!!! YEA!!!) Got 2 younger brothers. I'm from the great city of college park, Ga. born in city next door, East Point. Yea... and about how i got started in writing?... i would say it started back in 8th grade. Man i hated writing and all that shit. But i thoughly enjoyed doing speeches. It was liberating to a nigga to just say what he felt and for a grade to... shit... but then after that... my family was splittin apart. and at that time i had this girl i was dating named Jackie. and she wrote poetry. Deep shit. So i read some of them and for the first time i was like "i like this shit. i can feel this" probably due to the fact that i knew her. And with all that shit of my family pinned up i was like shit let me try to write something just for the hell of it. and once i started it was like a damn releasing water... it just flowed. and from that day forward i was a writer... i can thank her for that shit to this day. It saved my life.
Khaotic Kitten: Starting off as a writer, why did you decide to spit rhymes and take on the title as a MC?
Cuttin P: Well, i was rhyming with my poetry after the first 25 poems of speech-like poetry. cause i was having into speeches then. I decided to try rhyming poems. i was a lil tricky at first cause i wasn't used to it. But a listened to rap and shit so i was driven to do it. I also had this nigga i knew, well two niggaz that was in my crew that i started shortly after becomin a poet called The Cuttin P Dynasty... not my idea for the name... the crew decided to name it after me. Anyway, yea my boys Black Bull and Don Mecca were in rapping and i would start writing raps for a song or two. (raps his first rap). but then Don started battlin niggaz that wanted in the crew and if they wasn't tight enough we battle em. Made one dude stop writing... i feel bad bout that shit.
Khaotic Kitten:Why the name Cuttin P. What does it mean and who calls you Cuttin P?
Cuttin P: Cuttin P...cuttin P....hmmm good question. I came across it in the 8th grade. I was lookin for a alias... tried shit like Special K, Kaliban, Faizon, Grim Reaper, Lord Synopsis and shit. then i saw Def Comedy Jam and a comedian was on there that was on Poetic Justice (which a saw like 4 years ago for the first time) and he was introduced as "Cuttin P from Poetic Justice" I wasn't sure if he said Cuttin Peace or something but i was like I like that shit. and it stuck. Used P and i open abbreviation like Red Fox from the sanford and son show. My P could mean poetry, poverty, pain, pussy, etc. My niggaz in real life and on the net call me cuttin p.
Khaotic Kitten:What is your musical upbringing like in Atlanta?
Cuttin P: I was raised on Classic Oldies R&B and disco shit and old Woodstock rock music like Jemi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and shit all the way to Smokey Robinson, the bloodstones, Barry White, Prince, Al Green. My dad was in a band as a young man so he had guitars and drum sets and shit. so at like 4 years old i was drumming and shit. I first came in contact with rap in the 90's being the first rappers i ever heard were Whodini. 5 minutes of funk. was my shit. then alot of atl shit. that was all the rap i heard for a long time besides Rakim shit. I played the Alto Sax in elementary and middle school and my dad, my two brothers, my lil cousin and I had a lil band... we'd play for poeple my parent brought over. i played the bass guitar then. I was fun. probably why i love music so much... cause i was never focused on one particular style of music. i heard and knew it all.
Khaotic Kitten:Based on the fact that you write all your own lyrics and from what I've heard and the battles you've taken part in. How come most of your songs aren't autobiographical?
Cuttin P: i write my own lyrics whether poem or song... but I’m a natural listener and empathizer. I often amplify other peoples emotions when i listen to them. I usually don't talk bout myself much. Only if I’m writing but even then a lot of the intense emotion isn't mine... just the vibes off people that I’m close to. I've always been like that. It's hard for me to insulate my feelings like that.
Khaotic Kitten:What do you think you have thats different from other MCs?
Cuttin P: My upbringin... i was raised to think like a old person. About kindness and karma and the world at like the age 5 and shit. I look at everything deeply. and also my experiences in music too cause at least down here... a lot of people don't like as much shit that I’m into. and that shit shows in my music and writing. People say i write like I'm a heavy metal fan. And i am.
Khaotic Kitten: How would you describe your general sound?
Cuttin P: my general sound is aggressive and ever changing. as yall heard on my battles and shit, i changed my tempo and flow about 5 times on each track i did. Can’t help it. Especially if i freestyle. i can go for hours (have before) and not repeat a pattern of flow. Charismatic... though i didn't show much in the tourney. i was going through alot at the time with my home and the people in my life all needin me. hopefully yall we see more of what i'ma talkin about soon.
Khaotic Kitten:Tell me about the average day in the life of Cuttin P?
Cuttin P: my days... busy... not at all what i plan them to be. niggaz got alot of hands on my time. okay, i wake up... eat something. piss. freshin up (you know wash my face and shit) then i either go take Kaori to the train station for work or i hop on the computer. then i either get ready for work or fuck with some beats and thats IF i don't have to drop off bills or drive Kaori or My brother somewhere like Work or to the store. Then i clean up, watch TV. maybe play a video game or 2 or 3 haha. eat again. pick up my lil brother from work (if he working) or Kaori from the station and get her something to munch on. and shower and go back to sleep. that's my average day. seems chilled out but it really isn't... my mind be racing the whole day. cause alot of shit comes up at the last minute that takes up most that down time that i mentioned. My days off really aren't days off.
Khaotic Kitten:If you could take anyones place online right now involved with the music production online, who would it be, and why?
Cuttin P: nobody. I don't wanna take noones place cause i couldn't fill those shoes... i have my own style and that's just it. Now, some people are doing their thing but for me to just take their place would leave me playin catch up forever. cause each of these people have experiences unique to them that made them the way they are musically. nobody could fill my shoes.
Khaotic Kitten:Have you ever heard anything interesting said about you online on the many of sites you visit?
Cuttin P: that my writing style is very discriptive and visual. I have a photographic memory and i think in pictures. so what i write i see individual frames and i describe what i see in them. i guess it help people to see what i see and feel and i feel when i write shit. that's the most common shit i get from sites on the net. I pride myself on that.
Khaotic Kitten:What is your biggest fear or set back since you started to mix your own beats and become a mc?
Cuttin P: fear... that my shit won't move people in a positive or reflective manner. Not to say everythin i do with be uplifting but i would like people to at least enjoy what i produce rather beat or raps. My biggest set back is the equipment right now. i'm glad to have what i have but compared to where my competition is... i'm far far behind the average. but it's cool. I'm used to bein the underdog. it keeps me humbled and raw. that's pretty much it on that. i just wanna affect people heart in one way or the other. as long as they feel something at all... i'm good. if not... i'm failing.
Khaotic Kitten: What message do you hope to cast out to your growing fans?
Cuttin P: Message... its different at times... sometimes it's pain is a part of life... don't let it break u, stand up for your beliefs, karma, depression... basically life shit. and violence hahaha. nothing superficial. Fuck bling and shit. that's not about anything worth rappin bout. I don't write about to many uplifting things at all. so i guess i wanna provided a means of expression, company, a different view point and escape for those going through a hard time.
Khaotic Kitten: It takes a good 5 years to be hold a decent reputation or even have held a chance to be heard by what some call the "important people" Where do you think you will be in 5 years?
Cuttin P: 5 years? Hopefully puttin out CD number 3 or something. i hope to be performing and in the underground circuit doin my thing and living my life doing what ever i decide to do with it. I think i'll be like talks with major labels or indie labels. until then... just do me. cause no matter where i'm at musically... if i can't do what is me than i'm fuckin up.
Khaotic Kitten: What are some of the perks about the Intro-spect.net forums?
Cuttin P:I got history here and i'm well respected senior member lol. and i know all the people here. unlike other places where i might come in contact with a person once ever cause the site has 100,000,000 people on it. this place is small and like a secret society or something. It's great. and without all the drama... except from some new cats here and there on some bullshit they got into on other sites. it's my home on the net. i love this shit man. i really do. i'm glad i brought my girl here cause i think she loves this site too.
Khaotic Kitten: Anything I missed or any shout outs?
Cuttin P: I like to give a shoutout to my Cuttin P Dynasty Niggaz (Kaori, Don Mecca, Quasar, Dinamik (who's droppin their first album soon), Jackie, Starchylde, Marian, JT Reed, Black Bull, the first lady Prodigy, Ceasar, One) also to Khaotic Kitten for doing this thing is audio (much love and respect shawty!), Intro for having this site and nigga where is my damn CD haha, all the people that entered the tournament and all those i battled.
